Well guys, the winner is Isaac-1!! Thank you so much, I was one full rotation out! I pulled out the IP tonight just enough so that I could turn the flywheel another rotation and then bolted it all back together. I started her up and first of all she was much easier to start and then she...
I can see that happening as you go through the woods, I am going with the Donaldson Snorkel as listed in this thread http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?87196-m35a2-Ram-Air-Snorkel/page6&highlight=ram+snorkel My post #58 lists where you can get one, it's very hard to find one that fits...
So are those two different Deuces, one Camo and one Black? I didn't see the snorkel on the camo one and the rims are different. I am going to do the snorkel upgrade in the next few weeks! Can't wait, it looks cool.
Either way both trucks look great!
Thanks guys, I am going to try re-timing it since I only went by the PC mark and didn't look at the cylinder position, that could explain allot of my symptoms. Going to try it over the weekend, I've got my fingers crossed that it's that easy..
Welcome from neighboring NY! Down in South Jersey you can't be too far from Ft Dix and Ft Mead in MD is not that far either. They have auctions rather frequently on these types of vehicles if you want to get an auction truck. It seems like you're rather mechanical so that shouldn't be a...
Oh that was the kind of post I was hoping for, maybe it is just that stupid of a thing I did. I hope so, I really don't want to tear apart the engine, especially since I have never done that before.
Ha ha.. I took that vid last week so I'm still alive but thanks! The garage door was open and...
Well it's a brand new IP. I understood the timing instructions as: rotate the flywheel and line up the pointer with the PC mark, then turn the IP till you can lock it in place with a small pin or copper wire, then install. I was thinking a score in the cylinder or ring problem as it looks like...
OK guys here is a clip of the unit running (poorly) I may drain the oil again and re-fill to see if it gets thinned out again. Not sure where to go from here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQ2r0UsbDhI&feature=youtu.be
I just took mine off and apart, my plunger was stuck so I just bought a new IP and now it runs but smokes and knocks allot, now I got another issue to hunt down but I may take a short break from working on it.. It seems like allot of people on here have the same IP issue, no fuel coming out of...
Thanks, I took video of it running tonight and the sound it was making, I hope to be able to upload it tomorrow so you all can see and hear what I am talking about. I am also concerned now about the oil. I did an oil change when I first got her, checking the oil now it seems it's a bit thinned...
The way I understood the timing instructions. I turned the flywheel until the needle lined up with the "PC" mark. Then I opened the screw on the side of the IP and turned the IP till I could lock it in place with a small copper pin. Bolted the IP to the block and that was it. Did I miss...
Thanks guys! I determined my IP was bad as no fuel was coming out of the IP to the injectors. Thank you to GimpyRobb for supplying me with a new IP! I got it running last night with allot of white smoke and a little grey smoke as well. I also had what I call engine knocking, didn't sound too...
I just went through the exact same issue on my MEP002, I had a bad Injector Pump. I just replaced mine last night and now it starts up. I would bet that's your problem as well as JBK said.
Are you planning on putting the 12's all around or just on the back for the duals? Reason I ask is that I was thinking of duals on the back and singles on the front but wanted the front wheels wider. However, then I wind up with wheels in the back just slightly shorter in hight than the front...
1800 Diesel has a great list there, however most of the expensive repairs are hard to test for. I found out with a sized Injection Pump, on my way to replacing that. The gas tanks are usually in poor shape as mine is. I plan on doing a retrofit of a 12 gallon aluminum generic tank on mine so...
It started for me when I saw the Deuce in Tremors II, I had to have it. Also I had a 1990 chevy pickup that rusted to pieces and had a cracked frame and wanted something that would LAST! After trading the old truck for a 1979 Asteroids arcade game I then bought the Deuce. Loved it ever since...
