I also chase the threads on every bolt I remove and chse the threads witha die if needed. Every bolt I remove gets anti sieze in it, no matter what. You never know when you will have to take it apart again. Especially when it is easier to remove three thigs to get at the one thing you have to...
Come on Jeff, Just hook up the towbar and do it. Take it easy and you will be just fine. You arn't towing it far are yu? Do I have to come up there and do it for you.? If You want me to do that , I will pick up Bill Peasley and we will be there in as long as it takes to get the guntruck up there.
Got me! I woulda swore it was the brake cylinders. Since you did all that to it and it still locks up. and the glad hand on the right front fender is vented? and you are still locking up . As the guy before ssaid if the MC shaft is not going all the way back to alow the fluid to go back in the...
You need to pull the wheels and take one of the wheel cylinders apart. You will find a great deal of sludge and rust at the bottom of each cylinder. I believe that is because of the seperation of condensation in the system from using the Dot 5 (silicone brake fluid) The fluid is lighter than...
All this talk of putting a smaller steering wheel on the five tons and deuces, What a difference forty years makes. I had to change my old standatd five ton wheel with one from a 800 series because of the above mentioned guteral interference. I haven't heard so may medical terms since my last...
Met Kenny at the Sussex show. I am in the general area often so I stopped in to check his place out. He has great prices, Is friendly and great to deal with. I highly recomend anyone to go up there, shop around and satisfy your self as to how great a guy he is. It's a little Pain the a-- to...
I bought two extra tires for the mutt when I restored it. I figured I would want them for a 416 trailer but never kept one long enough to change tires on it. I wrapped each of them in shrink wrap and have had them stored in one of the sheds for a number of years. Did the same thing with the...
High pressure water from a steam cleaner or pressure washer will bend the fins on radiators real fast. I think there is more damage done right there than to the alernators. After all they are supposed tobe waterproof. Screw up the air flow through the radiator can cause it to over heat and...
First deuce was called " the Deuce"
Then we just went to five ton's
Second truck a M816 was "my pride and Joy" even though it beat me up and nearly into the ground a couple times
Third truck is the " Untouchable" guntruck
Fourth is a M51 Dump called "White Rabbit" with a not for publication...
I chock my five tons everytime I park them. I also try to always park on as level a spot as I can and turn the wheels into a hill or curb. Chocks really don't mean much to a five ton or the newer (00's witht he 1400's. they are just too big for such a small bump. I almost always forget to pick...
If I recall, where you live is south of the Mason Dixon line isn't it? But for all the rest of you out of staters, There are lots of rednecks here in jersey. And Our numbers are growing. And when TSHTF, WE will be hauling the preppers out of here. We have the GREEN and we know to use them. :driver:
I'll go with the transfer switch fuel lines. They dry out, crack and/or collapse and you start sucking air. That cummins will not run with air in the fuel system. and that pos switch couldn't be in a more inaccesable spot. It will sure up the alcohol intake levels until you fix it
Ya sure gave your arms a good work out. and it sure sounds great. That has ot be the best camo job in history. I bet even Revenourers would walk past it. Great job
No aspestos in floor tiles since the forties. It's all vynl tile any more. The only time we come in contact with it is when some old home had multiple floor coverings applied and it finaly got to the point that cabinets won't open. Industrial or commercial applications are becoming rare and...
We like pulling the powerpacks as unit using the wrecker.A whole lot easier to work on them on the ground or make a cradle for it on rollers os you can move it around the shop. I made a sling to grab both lifting point on the engine and keep the load either centered or it canbe tilted to...
Voltage conversions are such a personal thing. Everyone that needs one finds a way to cob something togethere and hope it works and those who have been successful in the enterprize seem to think they have hit up the holy grail. Amd most of the MV collectors who I have had the pleasure of...
