We do it the old fashioned way, Run the cable out and using a wire brush and some mineral spirits give the cable a good cleaning . Make an effort to get all the old grease off. Then have soldier #2 slowly real the cable back in while holding a big handfull of grease in a rag, and wipe it on the...
Look for dark groves in the track of the balls. If any of them fall out and seem loose to you discard the axel. The last one we replaced had large groves worn in the joint from excessive wear. I think the inner axel seal failed and let the gear oil flush the grease away from the joint...
Every body don't have a M816? Tell me it ain't so. If you have some thing bigger than a jeep or a Mutt in the yard, You need a wrecker. It stands to reason. It is written some place:beer:
Welcome to the world of green. This addiction will get worse. Soon you will need more than one vehicle . Don't be afraid, just keep buying them. I no longer have to cut the grass in my back yard. It is full fo green machines. There is no cure:beer:
Sounds like the grease is old and dried out. It makes it very stick. Time to run out your cable and really clean all the cable as well as the spool and sheaves . regrease every thing and run it back and forth a few times. That should clear everything up
We have been bobbing one here at the shop. Replaced the front wheel cylinders, greased the berings and adjusted the front brakes. Put fresh batteries in and fired her up. major oil leak in the filters. (bad gaskets) we will be changing over to spin ons later in the week. We still have the rear...
Not a throttle spring, Not a parking brake spring either. I've been puting a deuce back together all week and haven't come across anything as small as that. Might come in handy for something though. Looks new, maybe some one had something cobbed together and it fell off cause it wasn't the...
Gun trucks evolve. Inone picture you may see a single sixty. In another it may have twin sixty's. Maybe a sixty in the fron and one in the back. Do as much research as you can and settle on what you want to make it.
123 Mack has it nailed. I would like to remind everyone this is Memorial Day weekend. Parades and Salutes to Veterans who no longer answer the call. May they rest in peace.
Yep Brake fluid works fine. The next ime I have to remove vynl though, I 'm gonna try a plastic spatula. I always gouge the paint when I use the razor blade. It sure gets the residue off as well. I tried acitone, alcohoil, nail polish remover, goof off, and got the best results with the brake...
Sounds like a wheel cylinder blew to me. Do you see fluid on the inside of the wheel? Are your fluid levels down after that noise? Looks like you have to remove the wheel and check it.
Guntrucks were built incountry by ingenious GI's, and modified to the needs of their crews. The early multifuels started with the exhaust shown in your picture. If anything, your truck looks like it was modified to sustain a rollover. I" thick steel would be too heavy for deuce, I would...
The 800 series front axels hve remained unchanged since the fiveton trucks wer gassers. In seeing all the front end failures,It seems to me that the cause is the excess weight of the Cummins engines. Especially, since they were never beefed up since the early days. We just changed the front...
