    Fording Kit Instalation

I know this is an old subject, but for what its worth, my Deuce has an opening on the back of the air cleaner close to the firewall that the slobber tube can be redirected to with some work. I did this on mine to prevent the fumes from reaching the cab and to make both the slobber tube and...

    Deuce Engine run away

I had this happen to me after adjusting the IP advance. What I think happened is unburnt fuel got deposited in the piston bowl while turning the engine to the proper position, then lit all at once when I started it, making it seem like a runaway. my $.02

    How To: Hub Flip

to replace the inner seal, does one simply need to remove the inner bearing to reach it? One of my hubs is leaking, and I intend on rebuilding it, so this will be a GREAT help!

    M35 Fire truck WOT 2000 rpm 44 mph ... what's up?

Is the LDS built such that it can wind up to about 3K, but the LDT can't? The LDS troubleshooting manual says it can, if i remember correctly.

singled deuce tires: Goodyear or Michelin?

I have the XLs on my deuce, and can tell you from experience that they will dig to china if given the chance, especially when singled (my fronts dig badly). I plan on keeping them and putting 14.5R20 XLs up front to add flotation to prevent said problem.

Newb thinking of buying Deuce in CA to haul 4x4. Historical Reg issues?

how much does your 4-wheel rig weigh? If its hefty, the ramps for it will probably be as well, given the deck height of a deuce. my $.02

    Civy Wipers

From what I've heard, the anco 41-01 has been discontinued. I tried to pick up some for my deuce, bot nobody local (incl. NAPA) has them.

To Bob or not To Bob?

I'm on the fence about this one. I have an M35 that I'd like to put ARBs in the rear axles and 14.5s up front, and that's it. I can see the attraction of a bobbed truck as an oversize pickup (think poor-man's CXT). For more rare vehicles, I prefer to take the restore and preserve route. That...

    100DOLLARMAN's 1st Bobbed 5 Ton!!!

I agree with BKubu. If the truck was brought to you by someone to have bobbed, see if they'd be willing to sell it and get a tractor to bob. Might even cost them less in the long run. I've seen many more tractors than 813s, so they're less likely to become very scarce. my 2cents

    Fording Thought

That could work, be automatic, and low profile. Maybe a ping-pong ball and rubber grommet above it for sealing?

    New guy from Arkansas

:ditto: Also consider that you get quite a lot for very little. Yesterday my fiance remarked how the deuce (with XLs) was able to go through places that her tractor would dig down to the axles in. As long as you aren't in a hurry, I would say that there are few things that the Deuce can't do.

Truck starts but wont shut off

correct me if i'm wrong, but the only way to shut down a non-electronic diesel is to pull the fuel-stop. At least that's how it is on every non-electronic diesel I've ever used. edit: Oh...perhaps the solenoid is stuck open?

    Virginia Title

shouldn't need a CDL in VA unless you're using the deuce for business use. As for the title, check this thread: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/sf-97-help/44679-virginia-dmv-requirements.html
