I just spray painted some of mine with that Krylon Olive drab. The shovel was ex GI and had 4 different colors applied over the years. It began life with a red D handle. And the infamous paint over dirt :) The ax came from Forestry Service and was in Natural wood and factory gloss black...
I see lots of $20 parts all over that thing. Good find!! Should be able to winch it up on a car trailer or utility trailer. I see there even looks like a spare tire laying there. congrats again!
:) you should have gotten that bridge plate off before they painted it....oh well.... As you said make friends with local fire companies and wildland firefighter crews. They have access to much govt surplus. I got a new bridge plate and some gun holders out of a CUCV they were painting red...

Where at in central PA. I am between Clearfield and State College. I am going to recover a M109 with a 105 trailer this Saturday. And possibly a M-35a2 at the same time.
Is there any plans or blue prints to make your own tow bar. I would like to be able to pull a deuce with a deuce. Can one be made? I am a certified welder and can get the materials. If you dont think one can be made, what is the cost of a medium one approximately. PM if you want.

What is this winch and what is it worth? Can it be modified to fit the front? I was told it is probably a rear mount unit. AMS 10-18
