The plugs are 12 v anyway after ran throught the resistor block on the firewall, not 24v. I don't think you used the right plug though. You don't have to remove the head to get out a swollen plug. I have a tool I bought for aiding in removal but worse case you can usually get any broken peices...
I usually have 10 chevy trucks at one time. My newest truck is an 87. I'm old school and these fit me just fine. Out of all my trucks I have the most fun driving the military stuff. That is my opinion. If you don't like them it makes me happy. If everyone wanted them the bidding wars would...
I bought a new hitch, fit great. Just had to bend the safty chain loops up some to clear the hitch. Then remove the flat bar undernieth, I have a pictrue before it's done, Baically the hitch fit tight under where it bolted to the bar I removed, I drilled and taped the hitch and put bolts back...
My M1009 got 18 - 20 still pulling my 2,000 plus camper back and fouth about a 3 1/2 hour trip one way. It didn't do that good on hills and I kept it around 55 or just under. Biggest thing was with mine a brake controller was a must, i overheated the tranny and had to put in a tranny cooler. It...
You are likely grinding going into park because the shaft was still trying to spin with nothing to brake it. My buddy had the same thing happen to his k5. Sounds like a good time to upgrade the axles. If you don't I replaced my M1009 rear end with a nos gm axle drum to drum and e brake cables...
I just replaced mine with grade 8 hex. I don't have a problem with them on there, shooting them green either way. I always use antisieze too. I just pulled two off recently, was able to use a good set of vise grips on one, the other one was a little worse, I was able to get my die grinder in...
Grounds can be a major problem but will cause things to not work. I don't understand the backfeed comment? I would think it's a problem in the steering column between the ignition switch and the key cylinder not letting they key return to off? Will your fan blower turn on also?
Got the new shocks on, rear bumper, soldered up my wiring for the box lights, finished up the small stuff keeping me off the road and took the maiden voyage today. Drives great. It shifts rear harsh. I'm thinking this might be normal with the low gearing going to search some on that. Real...
I got the box on tonight, have to get more pics in the daylight tomorrow. I saw the stock M1031 bed has body mounts between the frame and box, still have to come up with something to put between the frame and box, don't have the factory mounts. Sure wish it was warm enough to paint.
I saw the utility bed on craigslist and it was local. I have always wanted one but once I saw it in person I was hooked on the idea. I'm an electrician by trade and it seems to handy to not have around. The guy was real firm on his price, I managed to budge him down though to $475. More than...
Ordered a new set of rear springs and forgot to measure the u bolts, I couldn't get to my truck to measure them before the order. Anyway, someone had picked up the stuff for me and now I picked up my springs tonight. So far out of a M1028 and M1008 I have bought both have had broken springs.
I couldn't find a brush guard locally for anything. Now I have three and one of them is a nos never installed brand new. I just keep getting more and more parts if I'm looking or not. I love the addiction (hobby) and I have a feeling if you bought a cucv already you have the intrest enough...
Tried finding the correct stock size u bolt for the rear 14 bolt axle with the square u bolts. No luck finding the numbers. Anyone know what size these are? They are measured by total length, bolt size and inner measurement that fits around the springs between bolts.
Pull the driveshafts, drop the tranny and transfer case. They usually don't come down without unbolting the exhaust from the manifolds so they can swing out of the way. Then you can get up to the engine to swap it out. The only other option is to pull the engine but lots more work. You can...
