I don't know much about it, but I do know part of the reason the LDT-465 series is so successful at burning multiple types of fuel is the very high compression ratio.
How would you change the compression ratio of an engine? Shorter pistons? Can't imagine even doing that would change it by...
If I was nearby I would offer $500 for it. A fairly firm $500.
The axles are worth money... but so is my time. And it takes quite a bit of labor to strip a deuce.
True enough. It was kind of a perfectionist's suggestion.
When I bent mine, I made the form only slightly overbend and ended up with pine bows that didn't quite match the oak ones.
But when I put them on the truck, it didn't matter one bit. They had enough flex to go on the truck without...
I'd like to see one in person so I can see how feasible it would be to fab up a replica. Already got the legs and reinforcement plate (came with the deuce). Just need to see one and take alot of dimensions.
The bows are not hard. Just get 3/4" pine and bolt them to the corners. They'll be thinner than the NOS oak ones, but it'll work. You can try steaming them and bending them in a form, but it's not necessary from what I can tell. They're pretty flexible.
Clean the wiper on the sending unit with a solvent. Or keep adding fresh fuel and drive it around until the fuel sloshes around enough in the tank to clean itself.
Mine eventually started working right just with a combination of those two.
I've got a right side fender too, already cut for the stack... off the same parts truck. Unfortunately, Private Schumckatella didn't do such a hot job of it.
Maybe my first choice will be to see if an auto body place can bend the original fender back.
I made a brief attempt at fixing it...
I thought I had completely whooped Murphy's butt. My parts truck had a wonderful condition left fender.
So today I got about halfway done taking the bent fender off my deuce and noticed... hey, this "new" one is a good 10" wider... and the vented portion comes down to the frame rail alot...
Ok, so I've been looking at buying a muffler for my deuce for awhile now and I really love the work some folks have done here giving their reviews of various mufflers.
Originally, based on the reviews of performance I've seen here, I was going to buy the Donaldson M070028.
But then I got to...
Watch your batteries. Make sure one isn't getting overcharged.
The duvac charge controller is a common malfunction with 1010s.
One of the easiest fixes is to just get rid of the duvac and go with a battery equalizer.
