Most likely it is fourth gear and reverse. Any good trans shop that works big transmission will be able to address the rebuild. I have an A3 with the same issue, 8 bell housing attach bolts and it's on the ground. May repair it myself if I find the time.
I have a Curt hitch I use for moving trailers around the yard/farm. It pulls fine, however use caution when backing up a loaded trailer, the Curt pintle doesn't fill the inside diameter of the mil lunette and it can bind up while backing and turning.
All my M939/NHC250 equipped trucks (4) operate the same. Fan rotates (slowly) while engine is running. The fan clutch engages at about 185* F, then the fan is engaged at really moves some air. My M813, well it's direct drive are roars all the time.
Yep, nice airport bar just south of Lou. International (SDF) good food, cold beer, and real friendly help, they'll even wash your car on Thursday and you can watch.
That's what I tell my wife; I don't bowl anymore, I don't play softball anymore, I don't hang out in taverns anymore, I'm in the shop, 140 yards from the house, with an 35 yr. old truck......
The dust from CARC removal is very bad stuff, it will lead to long term health problems. If you decide to have someone blast it. Ensure you make them aware that it is just not paint, its CARC.
You better buy that truck, there are not to many of them left. Believe it or not, it is easier to maintain two like vehicles than one. Insurance should be a lot easier, can't drive both at the same time. Go historic Vehicle for registration.
Sounds like a great road trip. I-90 is a very fast highway, keeping up with traffic will be taxing to those Michelins on the steer axle. Make sure you have good spare and all the tools to change a wheel out.
