Engine Oil used in TH400 instead of Dexron

I like this idea a lot. I'td be a lot better to just have to buy 15/40 instead of all the different types of oil hangning around the shop. Was there any older stuff IE manual transmission that you used 15/40 in? Were the power steering pumps filled with 15/40 as well? Then again, the...

Black Diesel and other alliterative fuels in my 6.2?

You can let it sit for as long as you'd like but it will always be black. I find that letting the oil sit for a few days draws most of the nasty stuff to the bottom thanks to gravity. FYI hydraulic oil burns better than WMO.

MA, 5 Ton, CDL, MA RMV

5 tons can be registered as antiques in MA and become exempt from the CDL rule. My M35 and my M818 were/are registered as antiques. I'm also pretty sure the M123 the next town over is registered as an antique. I know he does not use escorts or anything of the sort nor have flags saying wide load...

    Legalities of WMO in Mass.

Naw, didn't make it. I kept running into fuel issues since my tanks are full of crap. I have a temporary 55 gallon drum tank set up for now. It's a bit to see how much fuel is left which sucks. I still have a bad oil leak. I'll be there next time!

    Legalities of WMO in Mass.

Just a heads up for anyone interested, there is another Bass Pro shows this Thursday. I'm going to try and make it in the 10 ton.

    Hydraulic oil is GOOD!

Just wanted to share, hydraulic oil is by far my favorite fuel. It had been a while since I got a large quantity of it and I just fueled up over running diesel in the 10 ton and what a difference! Smoother running and a very noticeable increase in power and, surprisingly less smoke! There were a...

    NHC 250 needs more power

Go for a 400 big cam cummins. Or any other variation that has more power than the 250 NA. Since it is basically the same bottom end size wise it should be easy. And for the record, the Cummins will eat up anything a multi will. Pretty much anything will eat what a multi does with these old...

    Legalities of WMO in Mass.

Hey Matt, do you have any more info on that swap meet? Is there a website or anything? Anyone going to the Bass Pro car show at patriot Place this Thursday? I'm going to make it, I will be in my car though.

    Non Winch Offroad Recovery

You are correct, BOTH have to be wired to the stationary object or else the loose wheel with just spin so bring extra chain/wire rope. This method work pretty well. I had to use it in reverse up a snowy hill i my yard. A bit of a PITA since you can only got short distances, plus you need to make...

M20 from Milford MA to Pueblo CO

****, wish I had my M818 ready for this! I'm curious as to which M20 it is as well. My grandfather drove one in WWII and it'd be pretty cool for him to see one restored!

    Legalities of WMO in Mass.

You have to get an alt fuel permit/license. I think it was $100 and then the renewal however often it is. Then you just tell them how many miles you did or did not go and pay taxes accordingly. It's on the government website, I don't have the link offhand. We can burn just about anything that...

    M4 Sherman Hull on Farm

What kind of turd cuts up a tank to move logging equipment?!? Sounds like it is about scrap price.

    POS transmission

I'm curious to know what this noise sounds like. All 3 of my MVs had a gear wine either at WOT in top gear or off the pedal rolling in gear, but I seem to recall it sometimes in other gears as well. I just figured these were noisy transmissions...Everything feels fine though and it's held up...

    .

You can keep it at my place for a while. I'm in Whtinsville.I'd say I'd tow it back but my 818 isn't running yet. How long do you need a place to keep it?

Teledyne and TTC FMTV/MTV Pics, Info, manuals needed!

Does anyone have any info about the TTC and Teledyne FMTV and MTV prototypes produced in 89/90? I'd like pics of the 6x6 cargos and tractors and the 4x4 cargos. Specifically looking to see how the tractors are set up behind the cab and before the 5th wheel. Does anyone know what the Rockwell...

    Chemical Preservative Wrecker cables?

PB blaster is a penetrating oil which thins the other oils. I know the inside is important but the outside is too. It has held up well on the winch cable of multiple winches I've used and that have been abused by other people who don't know how to properly spool cables and makes bird nests out...

    Chemical Preservative Wrecker cables?

I usually use some combo of motor oil and PB blaster or hydraulic or gear oil. Make the cable look new again and removes any light rust on the outside.

    Refine used motor oil?

I use a 2.5" water pump from harbor freight with a 10 micron spin on filter. It's quick and effective. I let my oil sit in a 55 gallon drum for a while, anywhere from a week to months, then pump into a 280 gallon IBC tote where it sits until I need fuel. I never pump drirectly from the bottom...
