Hope everyone has a great time. I have thoroughly enjoyed every post of the build-up. Wish it were possible for us to make the trip from Kansas City, but not this year. Doubt that I would ever ask the deuce to make that trip, but perhaps the smaller Jeep might make the trip at another...
I accidentally purchased one on eBay while putting in lowball bids. OOPS. The deuce was in Wisconsin, I needed it in Missouri. I was way too busy to be messing with a truck, but had to do something. I listed it on uShip. The bids I got were all over the place, but the second...
I just won a Deuce (why is it called winning when one agrees to pay more than anyone else in the world was willing to pay?) on eBay. Will need to have it picked up in Montello WI on a Saturday or Sunday after the seller is comfortable that my check cleared. Want it delivered to a farm in the...
I realize that the references to the 645M are several years old ....... but ----
There is a working one (needs brakes) in NW Missouri. It is being used in the yard of a parts dealer who is buying and selling Allis Chalmers heavy equipment parts. I stopped in one day to ask him if it was for...
Steve, Not sure I understand what the topic of the new thread would be? "Need poor person with mechanical skills that would like to play with big trucks"?
Thanks to all who posted to this thread. I have a different problem than WhatTheDeuce, but the give and take in this discussion opened my eyes to the reality of my own situation.
I am old and dumb. When I was a teen (50 some years ago), my dad wouldn't let me near the family...
Heck of a note that I live in Gladstone, get the Dispach thrown in my yard, but have to read the article on the SS site. Shows how I spend my time.
Tuckered, you can get a benefit any time you shop at Lowe's. Just tell them you are a veteran and they will automatically give you 10%...
Vinegar - miracle product
Hmmmm, I have used vinegar on galvanized metals to compromise the coating so that it WOULD RUST. But, if what you say is true, vinegar is a LOT cheaper than OSPHO.:)
More OSPHO info
Quoting from the OSPHO jug.
OSPHO is a rust inhibiting coating -- not a paint. You do not have to remove tight rust. Merely remove loose paint and rust scale, dirt, oil, grease, and other accumulation with a wire brush -- apply a coat of OSPHO as it comes from the container --...
Ospho
I have used a product called OSPHO (contains phosphoric acid) to treat raw steel. I acquired it from a marine/boat product catalog whose name escapes me. The company that produces it is the Skybryte company in Cleveland Ohio. It is somewhat expensive, but I did 20 4in I-Beams (20...
Thanks for the welcome messages
Hmmm, muff diving - something else I hadn't thought of recently:-(
Thanks to all for the warm welcome. I am encouraged to know that there are several in this area with vehicles and experience. At the moment, I have neither. On the surface, it...
I am also in the Kansas City area (Gladstone). Newly afflicted with the bug. Looking for folks who already have these things so I can tag along and learn.
New guy in Kansas City. I am in my very late 60s. Haven't thought much about military vehicles since basic and infantry training back in the 60s. Now, I have developed an irrational urge to own some sort of Deuce. How do I cure this affliction?
If there is no cure, how does one...
