    power driven trailer

Jbulach...it simply does not turn fast enough for hydraulics to overcome the leakage around the gear, piston or vane of the pump and motor. In a perfect world there would be no losses and 1 revolution in would be 1 revolution out. Instead, 1 rev of the drive may only get 1/2 rev of the driven...

    power driven trailer

Is this such an odd thing that nobody can reply and stimulate some thought? Watching video of powered trailers makes me wonder why there is not more interest/discussion.

When you have a chance, post a picture please...of course it's not like my A3 needs that shift cover.

Deuce 4x4 with M105 reduced spring and air bag

I posted on an old thread about thoughts having a powered m105 using the rear axle removed from my 4x4 M35A3. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?31957-power-driven-trailer Here is the location of the rear axle driveshaft to connect to. It is offset about 5 1/2" to the right. It...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Are you doing something similar for the pedals and shifters?

    Is this a deal?

There are a lot of used 80-90% 395's out there right now. I had a set of 5 quoted, shipped, for $800. That would leave a lot of money on the table for wheels (and beadlocks). Look at the $40 tires (50%) that Eastern is selling....you could go hand pick a set and upgrade later.

    power driven trailer

Well M16ty and SS, please bring us up to date on your thoughts or progress for doing what you posted. I watched the Laplander...it's very cool. I'm staring at the back of my deuce that I am just making into a 4x4 and looking at the axle that just came out and well....I had exactly the same...

    Question about wheels types....

What is it you want to do? Singles all the way around? Some guys go to 11.00 duals on the rears and keep the OEM (rear) rims. I'm selling a pair of 365/80R20's on an A3 rims to put on the front for more flotation and a wider stance. They are the same revolutions/mile as the 11.00...

My Bobbed Deuce is almost done

Post up some new pics of your truck please Rob. Slate, use the search function and many, many threads will come up. I'm doing a 4x4 that is not bobbed and am locating the rear axle with an M105 bed's existing wheel well. Bed extends 3" beyond the frame and is 50" from the rear to the wheel...

    Highway handling

I agree with Welder1, that it's the caster angle. Put "deuce caster angle" into the search.

Deuce 4x4 with M105 reduced spring and air bag

The shock mount had to be changed. Here is the revised perch. The shock has 9" of travel. I marked it in chalk every 1 inch so I knew where it was in relation to the frame. I'm mounting it with 5" of up travel (compressed) and 4" down (extended) with no payload. The first picture is with...

Deuce 4x4 with M105 reduced spring and air bag

I had the M105 springs already. For some reason they seemed too heavy when on the trailer frame but as I prepared them and had input from others, they are not as strong as I first thought. I like the idea of needing no air in bags when I don't have a payload. My shock mount won't...

bead locks and run flats - how to tell if a tire/wheel already has them?

Locus thorns are my nemisis, probably a lot like the cedar you are talking about (Alpine looks wicked). I go out of my way to avoid them. Running run flats in old tires might be perfect for your application....and darn cheap.

Ask if she likes it better as a yard ornament? Always include her in your decisions. Refer to your green new hobby as an "investment" ....not money pit.

bead locks and run flats - how to tell if a tire/wheel already has them?

I think you have a fear of blow-out that is unlikely to happen if you use a good quality radial tire like Michelin and Goodyear. Don't use the GY AT-2....they get egg shaped. The extra weight of the RF is not most peoples choice. I've had 14 of the 5 tons and been able to compare. I run 395...

m-817 First start a no go.

I had one like it...they are great trucks. I'd buy another in a heartbeat (if I had the money) I hope you have a building to put it in and an electric block heater installed. If your into making them look nice too, look at the threads about Behr house paint. Here is what I did for a stick...

bead locks and run flats - how to tell if a tire/wheel already has them?

What do you mean running them (run flats) for "safety reasons"? They add a lot of weight and can be hard to balance. Run flats go from bead to bead..they will not fit with bead-locks. So yes... one or the other.
