Yes, I'm well into it and making decisions about what to build in the space between the M105 bed and the cab. Here is a pic of the trunion coming off and one of the spring that I'm building. I took out several spring leafs to get a softer ride and now adding a couple back so it tows a...
Are you sure these are a radial tire? Some that I looked at in that size were bias. If bias, they would have a "warm up" of probably 15 miles before they give up the last flat spot from setting.
This is an older thread but welldigger made a good point about the rim width. The A3 rim being 11" is too wide for the 11.00 tire. His recommendation on the 395 is what I like to see before I spend a small fortune for tires, even though I only need 5.
Good to hear you are mechanically inclined. I couldn't imagine having to hire everything.
I've had 14 of the 5 tons and 2 A3 deuces, so was able to make some comparisons. I named my latest deuce "Money Pit" and put blood into the project about a week ago. It will hopefully be one of the...
I know it's an old thread but I see lots of good information here. Do you (posters) still have the same opinions.
I have a nice set of A3 wheels and tires that would work on an M35A2 for steer tires that I may put in the classified. They would be great with the 11.00 rear duals.
Does...
Google "tire size comparison" and "tire size calculator" and look at the tread patterns and who makes them.
NDT (Non-directional tires) are a bias ply tire and can be really slick on wet roads (empty). I wouldn't use them (bias ply tire) to commute with.
While I like the Goodyear G177 in...
If your weight on the box is kept low, just use one axle and make it air ride. Put an air lock in it if you plan on getting off road a lot. I'll take a 4x4 with air lock rear diff over a 6x6 and no rear lockers any day. I'm doing similar to my Deuce, but not as a camper, using springs and air...
I haven't considered building one on a 923, but I thought about making one as a trailer.
How will you get a bike up in there? What do you mean by suspension mods?
While I like the spring pack with 9 leafs, I'm adding 2 of them back in for 11. This makes the 105 spring less one short leaf only. I'll keep about a 15 degree back angle on the shackle to help soften the ride.
I'm wondering about putting some electrical and hose conduits into the frame...
Did that to my dump truck drivers window. They are money pits.
Staying off the extension is good.
On mine (deuce) I'm adding a 1/4" L side plate 11x3 x10' and mounting to it. That gives me 3" more of beam strength (not that I really need it)(doubling the frame thickness) and a frame I...
I have a question...have you ever seen a narrowed door with narrowed glass (or acrylic)? I'm thinking extended cab but not a full 4 place, more like 2+2.
Have you ever seen a welder/generator running from the output of the transfer case PTO on a Deuce (mine is A3)? One would think the diesel running at about 1200 rpm would be reasonably efficient if you can use the power.
Are you staying with the duals? My favorite combo is 11.00 rears and 365/80R20 on A3 wheels on the front. You must have been thinking of lengthening a long time.
I'm considering doing an extended cab, about 30" (on my project). I'd do without opening doors but need windows. A couple of...
My fear is having one plugged in and trying to drive away... with it attached, at least with big cables. One of the nicer 5 ton trucks I had had someone take off wile the slave cable was attached. Not good.
Wondering what to do . Maybe I'll put a plug at the front and rear to feed line...
