Agreed!
Could also be the O-ring on the IP's secondary fuel pump. The truck wouldn't idle if the injectors leaked badly enough to dilute the crankcase oil through the cylinders.

Just so everyone knows what we're talking about. On the left is the high flow "Auto" style, on the right is the more common, and unsuitable for a 3/4" gun, industrial type.
-Chuck
I am sure that I cannot recommend that! The cans get all sorts of dirt around the outside of the filter. Do you really want to pump that junk into your bearings?
I would replace the filters, and then follow your recommendation... Assuming that a cup full of diesel diluted oil (out of 6...
The standard 1/4 inch air fittings are 1/8 inch ID, and won't pass enough air to run a 3/4 inch or 1 inch impact wrench with any authority. The smallest fitting that works is the 1/4 inch ID Auto style fittings. They are 1/2 inch OD.
1/2 inch ID hose is preferred. But I get by ok with 3/8...
Are you giving it enough air?
The little 1/4 inch industrial fittings, and 1/4 inch ID hoses are not big enough to feed the 3/4 inch guns with the air volume they need. If you must use fittings, use the 1/2 inch Auto style fittings, and a 3/8 inch ID hose.

If you decide not to use a wheel dolly, or pallet jack, there is no need to bust a gut lifting the hub and drum assembly. Use a little ingenuity, and build yourself a hub and drum skid. All you need is a piece of 1/2 inch plywood, a short chunk of 2x6, and a couple of wedge shaped scraps of...
A pallet jack would work, but only if you are on a level surface, and only if you jack up both sides of the axle.
The problem with pallet jacks is they need the tire up pretty high off of the floor, and if you jack only one side, that puts the axle at a pretty steep upward angle.... you need...
If you look at the screen just below the avatar on any post, you will see a Chinese yin/yan symbol. That symbol is where you can add, or subtract from the poster's reputation.
You have only a certain amount of power that you can use for or against someone's reputation, so use it wisely.

It isn't the indicated speedometer speed that throws the rods, it is the indicated tachometer speed. These trucks threw rods when they were doing line haul probably more frequently than they do now in our service. Check out the letter that David Doyle found where the DOD was complaining about...
You went a little further than was necessary, but it doesn't look like you broke anything too serious.
The only trick in putting it back together from there is holding the brushes in their sleeves so that you can get the commutator to go past them. I used a piece of thin wire that straightened...
Perhaps...
But I can fillet and fix a heater motor in well under an hour. Parts cost is zero.
How long does it take to find, order and ship a new motor from some supplier? If the new motor is made by the same vendor as the old one, it too will soon fail.
-Chuck
It isn't the brushes, it probably isn't the speed resistor, it is a poorly designed motor.
The terminal lug, for the field wire that returns to ground, is attached to the middle of one of the bolts that holds on the motor's end bells. There is a nut on that bolt that squeezes the lug against a...
Your air pressure powered brake switch has an air circuit sort of like this:
AIR------DIAPHRAGM----SPRING---SWITCH
On the SWITCH end, there is a cap that seals the SWITCH to the DIAPHRAGM, and keeps the elements out.
The DIAPHRAGM works with pressure differential. If the pressure on the AIR...
If you have holes in your J-pipe, you need look no further. Fix them, and the weird popping/sizzling noise will go away.
What probably happened is you blew a bit more of the rust out of the bottom of the J-pipe, and it changed the exhaust note.... the sizzling is a thin blade of rust vibrating...
Yep!
The only difference between the MultiFuel, and an OTR diesel (in the rod throwing tendency) is the Military turned the governor up well past the speed that would usually be the limit for a good long operating life.
Look at what they did to the gasser to make it a MF. They kept all of the...
I think the insurance idea is a very good one. Tort law says that if someone is holding YOUR property in their facilities, they are responsible for its safety. The problem is, even though you have paid for the property, you haven't received it until you sign the receipt, and take it off of...
When I was at one site, the GL guy told me that before the new fence went up, he used to catch the National Guard guys "shopping" in the GL lot. In any case, the GL guys generally know pretty well how the stuff is leaking out. Some care quite a lot about the problem... others couldn't care...
Look on your truck for a sticker that says: Meets Federal Requirements , or something like that. If it has one, take a picture of it with the VIN in view, and bring it in to show them.
Also, don't call it a M1009, call it a Blazer.
