Ok, its hot.. anyone put ac in a 5 ton?

On the Cummins NHC 250, the power steering pump seems to be where the A/C compressor wants to be. At the bottom of this page are some pics of Cummins types with accessories. Maybe this will make some ideas for the A/C compressor location...

Hairba11's LED Headlight build (a.k.a. huffing solder fumes on a sunday afternoon)

I think you will have heat problems with that design, but only time will tell. Are these the regular type of 20mA LED? I could not count how many, but what's the count? It might be better to get a bunch of 5 watt surface mount LEDs perhaps 16 or 24 of them and run each at slightly less such as...

Recovery? Lost...... or Stolen from Ft. Indiantown Gap PA.

I imagine an MP would not be hard to find. Any phone on the base, dial "O" or whatever number is there. What would happen next? I don't know. If the item is GL's property till you take it, then they might not be able to do much on the spot, since it is not government property. But it would make...

    5 ton lockout hubs

It will be interesting to see them, and to maybe see the teardown showing how they are made. I bet this is going to be a great improvement for 5T ownders. I am getting 6.5MPG on the M8109 and wondering if the hubs plus a sprag air disconnector would get me a MPG.

    Check yer Tires Thoroughly

I've learned that deuce tires are trivial compared to HEMMT rims and 16.00x20's. Those are so large and heavy they become nearly impossible to handle.

    M818 Hood Ornament

I didn't mean to make you feel bad KsM715. It's just the cat itself is maligned a lot in that area so I feel compelled to defend the little beasts for what they are. I thought it was in fun. It was not intended to be at your expense so I apologize.

    Improved safety with an 8x8

I wrote to "MSG Halfmast" at PS mag and got a reply about the old gasser deuces. You can write, tell them you are a civilian collector with truck type xxx that you drive almost daily etc, and ask if there is any article on this in an old issue of PS. There is a link there somewhere for...

    M818 Hood Ornament

On the subject of man cards, yeah that is funny but it's really incorrect: A real man isn't emasculated by the company of a cat, which is itself a solitary obligate carnivore and a top-of-foodchain animal. A real man's tadpole count is not reduced by the idea that the cat niether needs, asks...

Guys... take a look at my valve stems for my Michelin Meats on Zak Hemmt rims

What size tires are those? 16x20? I like 6he way the stems work. I run tubed 16x20's on a 5T with goodyear rims, and the only problem is that the fronts have to have the stems pointing one way and the rears the other.

    Trans Oil Overview 3053A

Trans oil for the 2.5T and 5T is certainly a popular topic. I'm no epxert at all but I've put >17,000 miles on an M35 and run GL-1 at first. What I noticed is that when it gets hot it turns very thin. Smooth shifting when cold became more difficult shifing when hot. Then I went to GL-5 with the...

No power EGT's up there HELP

looks dirtier than it ought to. huh. The pump timing gear phase is held by slots and bolts, right? Could it have been slowly slipping and now is so far off the ting is not going to run? I think this can be checked without taking anything apart except a cover off the side of the IP and turning...

    PRC-77/RT-841 RF amplifier?

Another possibility is to locate an old "CB Linear" and if it has transistors rated for VHF, as many of the cheapies do, rework it for the VRC-12's range. Then hide it in a green box! I did this to an old beater and got 10 watts out of it. I did not pursue further, but due to the poor gain of...

HMMWV alternator - -fits M818 5-ton or not?

For my M818, I was given a 100A alternator of the kind that goes on a hummvee. Now, it also has the correct 5T-size pulley on it, thatnks to the shop that gave it to me. There is no key in the keyway as the HMMWV alternator key is much larger than the keyway on the 5T pulley, but the pulley...

    A/C Retrofit Kits

Note that the deuce cab will need about 30,000 BTU to cool it in Texas summers unless you insulate it and plug all the air leaks where hot engine air gets in, and also you ought to be sure the windows seal well to the cab. What is the BTU rating of the kit? Probably close enough. Very nice! Now...

NHC-250 injection pump woes - PT pump in ruins

I have been sort of busy the last couple weeks, with starting to put up a 50FT ham radio tower (meaning digging a hole 5 FT deep and 30" square..) and worst of all my beloved old cat passed away last week, so I have not done much here. I'm glad Abby lived so long, 17 years. A good cat, like a...

    I found a V8 Deuse

With that engine, the road speed would be very good. No problem doing 60-65. Just maybe issues with the high speed for the transmission and maybe differentials, and certainly the brakes. Easter Pictures of Deuce

If someone likes a car large or very small, it is their biz to drive it. I gave up on small cars after being broadsided by a Cadillac while driving a Geo. I drive a 1/2 ton pickup now. Never mind the gass, I'd rather save my .... health. The little cars shown in the pics - I would not want to...
