Caveat Emptor, ALWAYS !
Never been tuh Tronna, eh. Montreal and Ontario , nes pa, before the Border Dickheads made it a pain in the wallet. Rather spend my money on beer and . . .other things.
Yes, that's her AND just like any worthwhile partner, still waiting for her to get ready. Nothing...
Always keep extra blinker fluid on board
Ditto again gimp Meister. Just wanted to give advice that was safe. Especially for a newer Owner - Operator. I too have run 12 to 13 in a rig I worked on and trusted with my life.
Split shiftin is also on MY advanced skills list. Whether in trans...
Put them flashers on and keep the hammer down. Imagine the song "International Harvester" but in tan n white 'steada IH red.
Slow is smooth, smooth is FAST !
:ditto: What gimpy said. They'll take a little more. Just keep EGTs under 1000 as much as possible. Brief ! forays to 1200 are survivable but not recommended. IF ya wanna crank her up ya might wanna consider a "snow" system on the intake. Water and methanol atomized to reduce combustion...
Wow, yeah, a nice plate underneath appears needed. I do wanna put a lock pin in the bottom ram mount of mine so it can be "collapsed" some when not in use. Will have to make "something" to support ram when folded so it doesn't "self extend" but that's what TIG and scrap metal are for.
A brief addendum to 68xray's one thought, if I may. If you find an nhc250 WITH a turbo stuck on it, be very cautious. The internals do NOT like forced induction. Will tolerate a little, just not made for it. Sounds like yer eyeballin' a newer model anyway, so shouldn't be an issue. Just intell.
Alice, on the engine portion of yer dilemma. The "older" units will have an nhc250, inline 6, non-turbo, engine that is 855 cubic inches ( 14 liters ). Next step, same engine, with a turbo. Next step is the 6ct series. Only 8.3 liters but same or better power due to electronics and modern...
Generally, the bigger the lugs (tread blocks) the more likely a tire is to "cup". Yes, you absolutely should check ALL steering components often. What is the air pressure in your tires ? Do you check it (chalk check ) every pre-trip and load / temperature change ? This is ABSOLUTELY the...
Sorry if I missed it. Did you disconnect the starter from the electrical system? Use a short bolt and nut to connect the wires as if they were connected to the starter and isolate with insulation. ( wrap a rag around the connection ) Now try putting the battery cable back on. No sparks ? R...
Would a PTO shaft pin work ? The bail locks over the pin so it doesn't get flung from the spinning PTO shaft, hence won't vibrate out due to the punishing pounding of riding in a 5 ton :D. You hafta reallllly WANNA take em out. I try to replace all the ball-detent type pins on my stuff with...
Ahab, there was a nasty mountain fire in the park last year. Blew right into downtown G-burg. Huge mess. Haven't been thru since. Afraid I'll find the Old Smoky's distillery gone and I hate bein' seen bawling like a baby in public...
My $.02 ? If you are gonna be driving it for business trips I hope you have family in an oil producing country that can send ya a sea-going tanker every once in a while. J K . . . . However, 3-4 m.p.g. is normal for these beasts. As others said above, many things on these vehicles are the...
Roger on the brake sitrep. The coolant filter is an awesome add-on too. I am soooooo envious. I would love to do something similar in the future. :carnac: ISX12 with the automated Eaton is my dream combo.
74M35A2,You will LOOOOOVE that variable turbo. I drove a Single-set for years. Great fun trying to cross intersections. The lag was terrific. Would finally spool up and "rocket launch" me right about the time Soccer Mom was getting ready to blow the horn and flip me off. 'Cept she'd a hadda...
Coffey1, extra kudos then for fingerpainting with that level of skill. Looks fantastic.
68xray, the bed crane is looking good. I am hoping to do something similar on the rear of my project like Rayzer did on his trailer. I am gettin too old and frail to wrestle with 300 lb. wheel and tire...
