A buddy of mine bought 6 from Napa a couple weeks ago. The box did not have a country or origin marked. I suspect chinese. We bout 4 from Napa a year ago and 2 were usa made and 2 were chinese. I bet you can guess what that means.
I wouldn't rule out the head gasket just because it was recently done. If you pull the heads have them magnafluxed. At least then you will know if there is a crack.
That's not a terrible price. If you ever get caught in a rain storm you will quickly see that they are worth every penny. They are also not failure prone like the air motors.
There are 2 "fuel pumps" that work in conjunction with the injector pump on the deuce. First is the in tank pump. It only builds around 5-7 psi. It's job is to prime the fuel system. Then on the side of the injector pump is the booster pump. It feeds the hydraulic head on the injector...
I run the xzl's on my truck. They ride and steer good. I haven't put enough miles on them to say how they wear. Off road they perform pretty awesome. As far as road noise...well I haven't rode in a truck with xml's so I can't compare, but the xzl's aren't terribly loud. They sound about...
You know I'm not a subscriber to the theory that you must baby the ldt or never exceed 2200 rpm. I run mine at 2400 all day long. For every guy who breaks a crank or throws a rod half of them baby their engine. The other half pegs it to full rpm. So no one has yet to really prove how and why...
I know you already got the inner seal off but the technique I use to get them off is lay a chunk of 2x4 across the brake shoes and use a pry bar to pop the seal off braced against the 2x4.
As for the outer seal, yes, the lip goes towards the bearing. Excess grease coating things won't hurt...
Post a picture of it and see if you can find any brand or part numbers on it. I have a muffler on my turbo multi fuel. It really makes the truck much more pleasant to drive. Mine is also a flow through design. It doesn't add any back pressure.
Welcome from Shreveport. If you have any questions or need help feel free to PM me for my phone #. There's a guy in Longview who has a bobber. His name is Will. He's a super nice guy.
I was thinking of a stainless or aluminum fuel cell. Maybe mounting it where the pioneer rack used to be (I'm not bobbing mine). Between the frame rails is a good place I was thinking of also.
I forgot where I saw it but there was a sealant that you could dump in a tank and roll the tank...
I pretty much have the same plan you do on the paint. Everything but the cab and drive train will be removed.
I may map out where I want to install a water tank and the pump while I'm in the process. I dunno. Too many ideas floating around in my head.
Ya the sureflo will probably work. I haven't started this project either. Bout to strip my truck down for paint and body work in a month or so. I may or may not get to this one anytime soon.
