Controlling Hi/Low Range and Front Axle Lock From a Shift Knob

You will destroy the shift fork doing that. You need to open your transfer case up and put new synchronizers in.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I'd make it a flatbed like sewerzuk did. Cut the drop side tabs off the side and build a new headache rack.

    Low Air Pressure Troubleshooting

I'll take the broke one if it comes to that.

    Low Air Pressure Troubleshooting

Unlikely the cylinder would have an internal leak. A hose or connection to the cylinder would be more likely. If it's not a hose or fitting leaking then the next thing to check will be the torque valve on the drag link. I would disconnect the supply line to it and squirt some air tool oil...

    A Few Deuce Questions

Yes more than likely. The data plates on both my transmission and transfer case say driveco or driverco. Can't remember at the moment exactly how it was spelled. Point being, both my tranny and t/c are spicer. They were just rebuilt by that company who had their own data plate. Neither my...

    Low Air Pressure Troubleshooting

Shut off your air assist steering and see if that makes any difference. Another thought is a sticky air priority valve on top of the outboard air tank. It is very common for these to stick shut on the a3's.

    A Few Deuce Questions

Tmc was probably a contract rebuilder for the transmissions. I think mine was redone by driveco. Which went defunct in the early 2000's.

    53" XZLs on stock M35A2

You can get xzl's in 395/85/20. They are 46" tall. I love them on my truck. 16.00s will not fit on a stock 6x6 deuce or a bobbed deuce without a lift.

2.5 ton rockwell how much can it take?

No. But 5 ton axles have been shoehorned under deuces numerous times. Bet you could get some take out 5 ton axles for around the same money as ouverson gear sets. Though they would need to be the older 5 ton axles with hydraulic brakes. Unless you want to convert to disk brakes. In which...

    Mike D's deuce recovery/modification thread

If its just the very end of the axle you will probably be ok. Just pack it with grease as they usually are anyways.

    Mike D's deuce recovery/modification thread

As long as you machined sufficient clearance for the axle to not rub as the cap rotates around it you will be fine. I'm curious to know how much sound deadening your mats will provide.

    Mike D's deuce recovery/modification thread

If I had to guess the holes are somehow part of the manufacturing process. My rocker panels are rusting even with all of the plugs in place. I'm thinking of welding the holes up myself.

    Mike D's deuce recovery/modification thread

Ditto. I'm gonna cut the rot out the best I can. Then I'm going to drill holes so at least the water can drain instead of sitting there. Especially in the front bottom corners of the cab.

    Dual Circuit Brake Engineering Thread

Are you using hydroboost from a one ton or similar truck or a bosch hydromax? I love the hydromax system. Brake boost comes from the power steering pump but if your engine is off or dies on you it has electric redundancy boost. Not quite as good as the hydraulic boost but it will get you stopped.

VA DOT Military Vehicles and HOAs "Junk Vehicles"

I will never live anywhere that has an HOA. It won't happen with me. Aside from my mv hobby I run my drilling business out of my home/property. I routinely park my rig, water truck, track hoe, and other related equipment in my yard. Now granted I have a designated parking area for such...

    6 Wheels vs. 10 WheelsthereT

The previous owner probably converted to singles like I did on my truck. It's not exactly difficult to do.

Front axle brake shoes wear out faster than rear axle brake shoes?

Because the tires change diameter. When you apply the brakes the weight shifts forward. This "squishes" the front tires and shrinks their radius. The rears being "relieved" so to speak, of some of the vehicle weight can actually have their radius increased. This can lead to a difference in...

Front axle brake shoes wear out faster than rear axle brake shoes?

This is easily explained by the fact that the rear of the car is lighter than the front already. Then when you stand on the brakes the weight shifts forward even more. This situation would easily lead to accelerated front brake wear since the front brakes are still turning and the back is...
