Well, we're are done taping and we did several walk throughs for applying the carc. This will be a challenge since it is not a government job! If all goes well it should be painted this afternoon. I will stop by afterwords and snap another round of pictures of fresh 383 green. Tomorrow they...
Here is a picture of where the serial number is on the a-pillar. Someone ask me in a pm which I deleted prior to answering, so I thought I would post it here. I hope this helps.
Cleaning and degreasing today, taping tomorrow and hopefully painting Monday! Their shop is slowing down so I might send in a Deuce and an M813A1 to get prettied up.
Welcome to the SS forum! It is good to have another Michigander on board! Can't wait to see the pictures and have fun getting it moving. Is the gasser engine bad/broken or just locked up from sitting?
frodobaggins,
On the front of the later style humvee's (ECV=Expanded Capicity Vehicles) such as this one, a larger cooling stack is installed. To make room for this larger cooling system, AM General extended the grill out and then made the hood pivot over the grill. They also modified the...
Thanks for the kind words.
Well after the shake down tests and puting about 20 miles on it, I stripped the truck back to bare bones. I got out the 3m scuffing pads and went over the whole truck plus the H-turret set up. After 3 days, the truck is ready for carc'ing! I delivered it to the...
The early frame rails are like what Sean stated. Later ones have atleast two .5" holes drill in them. If one drills in the bottom of the rail, just make sure you seal up the raw metal with something so it does not rust. I have seen rails that are FULL of damp sand and they even had those two...
The biggest I put on without lifting is by using Michelin XL 11.00x16 Radial on stock M37 rims. Fit nice, fills the wheel wells nice and do not rub. I have an extra set of 5 new ones with tubes and flaps available...
It was good to meet you Jeff and your father! I am glad that deuce fired up for you and I am sorry I missed the phone call of it running. Keep in touch and I hope to see real soon to pick up a humvee for your mom!
Bill,
If I understand what you are saying, it is to to keep the back of the bench seat up/holds it in place for sitting. I guess that it keep it from moving forward with and without a person sitting in it. I have a truck with this hood latch installed.
Regards,
As usual, great advice Chuck! I spent 2 hours at the SOS for another hmmwv and another M35A2. The lady was very nice but the computer was fighting her. Sometimes I get lucky like Eric and sometimes not. I have never had them try to talk me out of historic plates except for the more current...
I have an M185A3 with the dual air pack setup. I have never traced out the lines yet to compare to my other M35A2's with single pack. The second pack is located near the battery box and infront of the t-case fill hole area. To fill the t-case, you need to remove the skid plate.
Regarding...
Update...after getting in 4 deuces & a 5ton cargo, I got side tracked from this hmmwv project plus the weather is finally warming up! So I finally got to drive my it & perform a shake down prior to painting. I found that this combo on a 4 door soft top has a crap load of power! It shifted very...
