Oil filters and belts... quick info please

The NAPA 1458 oil filter needs a replacement oil filter housing assembly or machined adaptors made to get them to spin on. There is no known spin-on filter that can "just work" with the stock setup. The oil filter housing that uses the 1458 filter is machined different to allow the filters to...

    antifreeze in oil

RE: Coolant Leak If it's pouring out with no pressure in the cooling system, sounds like a big hole in the block...Thats too bad. Still a good parts engine. Injection pump, oil pan, oil pump, heads, injectors, oil cooler, etc.

    Head gasket problem...Perhaps not

It talks of water, not oil. I have a small amount of oil leakage from the front head...Also on the right side. Does oil count as normal too? I know just about everyone has some oil leakage, but does the Army consider it normal? Why does this engine need the vents?

    Got me a deuce!!

Looks good. Have you asked the seller more about the titling? How can he have the "government title" and have it registered? You give the DMV the "government title" (SF-97) when you transfer it into your name. So... how did he register it, if he never transfered it into his name?

    Baaaaaaaateries!!!!!

Re: RE: batteries Well, what are the specs on the 6TL batteries? My originals have long sense been recycled, but I seem to recall only 650 CCA. Typical, good, automotive batteries, such as the ones I have, are 800 CCA. Two 800 CCA batteries wired in series for 24 Volts should yield a...

    Baaaaaaaateries!!!!!

The stock battery setup uses two 12 volt batteries wired in series. You could get replacement 6TL batteries or just get some walmart batteries. I am using three batteries... Two in series for the 24 volt system and one for the 12 Volt. All cheap Walmart's.

Who knows a knowledgeable Hercules Parts Counter Person?

The 1458 Filter oil filter does have an anti drain back valve. But that looks to be the only "upgrade" by using this filter. http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlookup/PartDetail.asp?Part=51458

Who knows a knowledgeable Hercules Parts Counter Person?

Why do that? Why not just install remote oil filters for aprox the same price? Then you can use Wix's spin-flow filters.

    Leaks.

Are your axle/trans breathers clogged? If the gear boxes/axles are allowed to build up excessive pressure, the fluids will be forced past the seals.

    Remote Oil Filters...Done.

Here's a quick update on oil pressures.... Before installing the filters I was getting 12-14 seconds of no oil pressure on startup. With the remote filters installed, I am getting 2-4 seconds at startup. Pretty dramatic difference! Below is a crude picture of a simple way to plumb into the...

    Remote Oil Filters...Done.

I have a solution for plumbing the "out" of the filters to enter the engine through the hollow center shafts. I will have to draw up a picture of my idea. Should only be minor fab. Good call by Bjorn on the cooler. Hopefully I can finish up the updated design this weekend. I am ready to be...
