all they need is a sense wire, nothing fancy. The alternator shop should be able to tell you how to wire them in if you dont want to fix your factory wiring issue. Be forwarned, if you modify your wiring and have further issues we will be unable to help you.

Of course witha sharp knife you can just cut the rubber portion in the wheelwell and syphon from there, its just to keep honest people honest.
The fuel filler that the cucv's use is a GM part, its not common at all though. LMC truck even had the filler iirc, but I'm not sure its common enough to find a locking filler cap at a parts store. Give LMC a try, i'll do some looking around as well.

You should have put the windshield with the built-in antenna on the truck, got rid of that ugly thing secured to the interior roof.
I would go ahead and purchase the 12v starter if you are dead set on conversion. But, I wouldnt bother converting it until your current system has...

Glad it was an easy fix. Keep that diagram in the truck, as a few of the spots are 24v and that way you will never have to guess.

I have a complete fuel base pulled from a m1009 that i could sell you, I dont know what shipping would be to you though.
I forget the site, but you can purchase the filter bases for ~$50 NEW.
Do me a favor, delete the cookies on your computer, ask if you need help in finding where to do this.
Then see if the issue has been resolved, it could be that the cookie that the site uses has been corrupted and a new one is not being written to your computer.

with the truck running measure the voltage at each alternator. driver's side should be !4v and the pass side should be ~28v.
