    I think the width would be the issue, I"m not sure if the m101 is the same width as the inside of the bed.

    Estimate the amount of lift on this truck?

    the difference with chevy trucks is that the front axle is not centered in the wheel opening, its set back towards the cab. moving the front axle forward ~1.5" will get you much more room for tires. For larger diameter tires with little to no lift, skinny tires are key. I have a stiff 6" lift on...

    Flat-towing with same sized vehicles is no problem at all. Allow plenty of distance for stoping and you'll be fine.

    Normal oil usuage?

    If the truck sat and idled a lot or has high mileage your engine may have worn piston rings, thats why its using a bit of oil. just watch the oil level and if its just using a little bit dont worry about it.

    Its not horrible, an auto parts store should carry the door pin & bushing kit. You will want a second person and a floor jack with some short 2x4's to hold the door up.

    the m1028 also has a limited slip (traction aid) in the front axle, whereas the m1008 does not.

    For the front axle you would need to find 8lug hubs from a dana 44 (they fit the 10bolt).

    alts not charging

    There is no Ground for the passenger alternator. The "ground" lug comes from the positive side of the drivers alternator, and the pass alt. then adds 12v make 24v output.
