the difference with chevy trucks is that the front axle is not centered in the wheel opening, its set back towards the cab. moving the front axle forward ~1.5" will get you much more room for tires. For larger diameter tires with little to no lift, skinny tires are key. I have a stiff 6" lift on...
If the truck sat and idled a lot or has high mileage your engine may have worn piston rings, thats why its using a bit of oil. just watch the oil level and if its just using a little bit dont worry about it.
Its not horrible, an auto parts store should carry the door pin & bushing kit. You will want a second person and a floor jack with some short 2x4's to hold the door up.

The suspension is not the issue, its the lighting and safety/emissions systems that are not up to DOT standards. For the government to be able to release them as titleable vehicles, they (the government) would have to bring them up to code.

There is no Ground for the passenger alternator. The "ground" lug comes from the positive side of the drivers alternator, and the pass alt. then adds 12v make 24v output.
