I'm trying to convinve my dad he needs a deuce for his work truck, maybe since it has no toolboxes he's reluctant but if I could just find a V17.......

on page 1 and 3 of this thread I posted a few gen-u-ine deuce gun trucks. I pulled 'em off of vietnam photo collection pages. Seen a lot of quad 50 deuces though
not sure if this is a deuce or not- front wheel positioning appears to be a 5 ton, but it's mostly obscured and I see no exhaust stack. Could it be a gas powered deuce?

it points those handles out as tie down points, though before I thought they were for climbing around under there
I was under the impression these were somehow filtered down through the suprlus market. Like when a HMMWV or M151 makes it into the surplus market, while not TECHNICALLY allowed to be there they made it nonetheless. Just stupidity on the part of the people that released it. I'm sure somewhere...

but, stock they won't fit. You'll need custom springs and longer bogie arms, and a longer driveshaft at the least. That's the main stuff, the front axle can...
hey Joe, great to hear. A while back I had contacted you regarding purchasing a deuce, but you helped persuade me not to drive it back to Reno I, um, got one closer to home , but...
it's funny, a week ago we had our lows from 3 to 6 degrees. The deuce was a bugger to start then, BUT, once our lows returned to the teens she starts right up first try no problem. Those extra couple degrees make a huge difference ...
dang! How'd I already get a flat? I was doing a pre-trip inspection and found the right rear with a sheetmetal screw in it. Luckily it was the owrst tire out of the whole set of ten, if that's any consolation.
then I discovered you...
thanks for the heads up on the usa 6x6 pinion brake. Daniel over there advised that the pinion brake's not a good choice for straight braking on such a heavy vehicle, just as a good offroad brake. But, I will be getting their parking brake setup.
I aslo noticed the front axle is a bad choice...

so I take it then swapping on a cargo bed would be pretty straightforward? I read they used the 5 ton cab and are only two inches longer in cargo version. I assume the 10 ton cargo bed was...
not too long ago there was an NOS M35 heater kit on eBay with every little piece for $200, I don't believe it sold. I wasn't looking for the complete NOS one at the time so didn't bid, then when I got outbid on the M35 heater core assembly I was mad <img src="emoticons/icon_smilie_bitchin.gif"...
I ran into the same thing- NO local insurers would quote me normal rates due to the 3 axles and GVW. They thought I'd need a commercial policy. My normal company, Country, wouldn't touch it because it's too big, Progressive told me the same thing, Hagerty collector insurance wouldn't write me...
after driving my truck in many single digit mornings lately, I can say I NEED the heater. It's really not so bad it deters me from driving, but it does get damn cold in there. On the upside, it's so full of holes that it defrosts itself, the bad news is that it's by freezing air instead of...
