that pintle is also in the restoration pics of Jumbo before it was about to be scrapped. I could be wrong, but is it just the storage for the pintle (they are quite large and awkward), since normally the M125 cargos were equipped with artillery hauling towing blocks that could be swapped off...
in reading the restoration article in MVM by Tony Roca, it sounds like a more manageable beasst than you think. Says it has a 12 foot smaller turning radius than a 5 ton, despite being a tad longer. Said it steers easy and stops easy as well, getting it going is a tough task though! So is...
I found a cool site and couldn't resist posting the pics. The 10 ton is without a doubt my favorite military vehicle of all time. I'd kill for a 10 ton, but would probably prefer the M125 cargo over the 123 tractor.

it's simply a brake disc that mounts between the driveshaft and the pinion in the differential, or in the rockwell's case on the front output
instead of halting the tires from spinning, it halts the gears from spinning
drawbacks...
I wouldn't worry much about the tires, more than likely they've been replaced numerous times. The Army's great at using taxpayer's money to maintain their rigs :-) Even if, you have the duals to fall back on so you won't need to swap tires unless a front goes out.
in asking around, I could find no info on loading ramps- apparently they always used a dock
and, in researching, it appears there's a bell curve on the strength of a ramp in comparison to its length, over 8 feet they start losing load...
man, everytime I read story about lift laws, PA pops up as one of the owrst states, you do have it tough. Here in NV there are no inspections, and trucks over a certain GVW don't have to comply with any of the lift laws. It's a beautiful thing :-)
in shopping, the only con I found was price and rarity. Not sure why they all didn't come from the factory though, complexity of manufacturing maybe?
The only advantage I see is that you can side load with a forklift. I don't have one, so it's no difference to me. Either way they are a...
I'd say value wise, a good A3 I'd go up to $15k, that's just because the add-ons and they've been reconditioned.
Like, can you get the CTIS separate? Ever see those on GL?
I stopped watching that at $10k! man, that's a little pricey for a deuce in my opinion, and a GL deuce at that. My thought is, why would they be auctioning it if it's so great? You need to expect to make repairs, and I wouldn't spend that on a deuce needing repairs.....
that looks pretty good! I've often wondered what my truck would look like on NDT's, but I'll probably go with the four spare 9x20's I'll have when I swap the deuce to singles
When I installed my desplined flanges I noticed no real difference in driving, except that it didn't want to slow down as much because of the reduced drag
but, when I removed the rear rear axle shaft as well, that made a HUGE...
hey Longhunter- I don't see any PM?
anyhow, I'll need that filter at the least. I tested the cold start again this morning, took off the buzzer, accessory on, holding the switch I couldn't hear any "poof" noise. How noticeable is it? I...
I use gulfway as well, I'm in NV and it costs me $169 a year. I got some other ridiculous quotes before that one!
registration can vary. I estimated mine on the DMV site at $300 due to the GVW, but they didn't know what they were doing when I got there and registered it as a Jeep truck, for...
very cool- that also explains a little bit of how good they look in there- they're a titch taller and wider than the 11.00 x20 NDTs. Look great though, thanks to those pics I'm reconsidering ordering a bunch of 11.00x20 NDTs!
you can probably get around the GVW in CA, but isn't it that CA requires a CDL for all 3 axle vehicles? DMV will probably let that slip but if CHP pulls you over won't you be in trouble? I tried contacting CHP in case I need to drive through there but couldn't get a hold of anybody.
alrighty, cool. that answers three of my questions- I didn't know if I needed to hold it on (I did hold it, thought maybe it was broken), the accessory switch needs to be on, and it's only operating when cranking. I thought maybe it was like some electric heater that heated the fuel going in...
