I totally agree! It is not how often or how long power is off. It is bound to be off some, and that can be very inconvenient. Two years ago on Easter wife had a turkey in the oven and was getting ready to put a cake in when some idiot hit the power pole down the street. We were expecting a...
Also remember to mod your genny when you get it. In this pic you can see civilian fuel filter and water separator, also a small part of the Lowe's roof panels that fit perfectly on the top bows. First mod should be Speddmon's oil filter.
OK, I went out and took a few pics. The first shows a screwdriver in the back-up hole on the brakes. This is just for a few feet of backing up only, not for on the road. Second is the 24 volt connector. As you can see it does not convert to civilian use easily. Third is where I tapped in to...
I didn't mean to make it sound bad, it is really simple. I did my tow with a Crown Vic, piece of cake. The rod I mentioned can just be a screwdriver, something to insert into the surge brake if you want to back up. The surge brakes think backing is the same as slowing down and will apply the...
Yes and no. They really need a full pre-trip as the brake reservoir may be empty. Also you need a rod to push into the hole on the brake actuator if you want to back up or you can lock the wheels. Also lights are a concern, most folks use magnet lights to get it home. Lunette will be a...
I posted this in 2010, now she runs great and has saved family bacon on several occasions. I love the trailer, added roof panels from Lowes, added spin on filters, extra 15 gallon tank. Best $600 I spent from GL.
I never have had mine inspected. I do all my own work so far so the only cost is parts, I would hope you can too. Many shops are afraid of old army trucks, they don't realize how relatively simple they are to fix. BTW I am in the upper 60s and have a very limited mechanical background.
ETA I...
We just got our power on a few days ago, ran the 003A for 12 straight hours. Never missed a beat! You will love your unit.
Mine is trailer mounted and no ASK. so I must have kept the neighbors awake.
Nothing to see here, normal stuff. Sometimes the items will re-appear in a few weeks, sometimes they go back to some government use. Who knows.
I remember when they first noticed the dial needles that could put off radiation, suddenly lots of trucks were pulled.
Firejareen, hope the others excuse the hijack, but here ya go. I painted it outside my shop in Bluefield (I have since retired and am shopless!) and sanded the surface rust, applied bondo as needed, primed the entire truck with rustoleum, bought a cheap spray gun at Lowes for about $29, used 4...
Thanks! Nah, did it myself. At my pace, it takes about a week to paint one. Mon and Tuesday sanding, Wednesday masking, Thursday paint the cab and Friday paint the bed.
