Pump arm frozen or seized, so when cam lobe moved to its farthest point it was either the pump or the cam to give. Lucky it wasn't the cam.

My gasser( was, now multi) went through a depot rebuild in 89. Canrac confirmed it was a 53 model ( date also stamped on the axel tubes) Nothing on the Data plate. Is there a way to determine who made it? Gl sp97'd it as a Am General.

Well I wrote in big letters " Property of the G741 Forum" on the cover and sides with a magic marker. I just inquired on the G741 forum and got a response from a member who asked for it from the last person and he never received it. I hate thinking the worst about people............my day job...

Do you plan on taking the body off the frame? I'm to that point just need the will power. Biggest thing that I've found so far is the insulation a sponge for mice and moisture. And every one that I've looked at has some kind of rust along the roof seams.

Make sure that the window guides( the part that the window slides up and down in ) has'nt come apart. Its a metal channel covered in a felt material. The felt falls apart after time and can jam up the window. Or the whole guide can come loose from the door frame.:-)

Are you taking the cab off? Two men or an engine lift will do it. You might as well you have went this far.

What about a Steel Soldiers license plate with your screen name in place of the letters/numbers, mounted on the front bumper? Or the screen name stenciled somewhere small and standard for all the trucks. Say bottom of the drivers door?

It also sometimes helps to pin down an approximate ( notice approximate) year by checking all three axle tags or stampings for build dates. If all three are the same, then probably ( notice probably) this an approximate ( notice approximate) build date for the frame and axles. Motors and trans...
