I always show up on Friday about lunch. On Friday evening alot of us go to nearby seafood restaurants. For camping, there is Meher state park on the west end of the couseway.
A little correction on the USS Alabama show, it's on 9-10 April, not March. One reason we were thinking Huntsville, It would be easier on people from the midwest. If you look at Huntsville on the map and draw a 350 to 400 mile radius, it covers a lot of the southeast and midwest.
Soome of us in the Dixie Division have been thinking the same thing and having it possibly in Huntsville. The ATHS had their international convention at the old airport. There was plenty of room, it's right off U.S.231, and next to the Veterans Memorial Museum. The area is owned by the city...
The hydraulic oil in my M816 as it came from the Florida National Guard is red. I've seen red hydraulic fluid in commercial applications, so apparently this is what the military is using. I'm going to look around for a match and I'll report back what I find out.
Turns out jmmcld was right. There is a linkage attached to te body above the parking brake. I hosed it down with p-b blaster, unhooked it from the power divider worked it back and forth. It eventually freed up.
I went out today to try and use the crane on my recently aquired M816 for the first time. All went well until I tried to engage the power divider lever. It would move maybe 2 inches, and the divider would not engage. How far does the lever supposed move? Anyone else have a problem with it...
The wheel functions similar to the unditching roller in front of a halftrack or scout car, at least that is what i've seen them do when run in difficult terrain at re-enactments.
Thanks for all the kind words. I reference to the torch tanks brought up by area52, I checked the NSNs for them listed in the -10 for 800 series trucks. A nsn search shows that the acetylene tank has a capacity of 225 cuft and the oxygen is 250 cuft. Keep in mind these are nominal values and...
The M816 I won in a Dec GL auction arrived today from Redstone. Once I get it running,(new batteries, filters, etc) comes the fun part, finding all the BII. It did come with a medium tow bar, gondola cover, lug wrench and jack.
Can anyone tell me if the three section boom off an M246 tractor wrecker will fit a M62? The reason I ask is that I am parting out a M246 I aquired some time ago with the hope of restoring it. Turns out along with damage to the boom support, the frame is warped. Apparently the former owner...
It is high for one in that condition. Besides the rust, that's a civvy 5th wheel. The correct 5th wheel is larger and takes a 3.5 inch kingpin. The cables and pipe visible in the picture is an a-frame I temporarily rigged up.
Thanks for the antenna info, I'll take a look at those. Has anyone ever built a loop type NVIS antenna. i thoought one of those might work good on a M1009.
Sure. Pm me. I also have the sugar scoop and a mounting post attached to it. I'm looking for some sort of vehicle mounted military HF antenna to go with my Icom mobile HF radio. I want to avoid putting a civvy antenna on my M1009 if at all possible.
Need help identifying an antenna I recently picked up. The label is marked as "RF-391". A google search turned up nothing. Here are some pictures Thanks for any help.
