Where the heck did you get a Ma Deuce-on-a-Stick?
That's not where we put our sandbags. We put them under our butts and on the floor boards. I guess it depends on where you expect the trouble to come from. I also used an old flack jacket for a seat cushion.
I am thinking about a bobbed deuce partly because I could park it at home. That ought to steam up the neighbor that called the city, the HOA and the police 2 hours after I drove my M109 in from Kansas.
I have been putting all dropside beds I can find on GL on my watch list. I would like to...
I have 2 EUCs for equipment at Hill AFB, one for a trailer I already got invoiced on and one for electronic equipment that GL hung up for #$%& reasons. If the 2nd EUC doesn't come through by 4-22 I have a problem.
If all works out I will be making the trip 4-27 thru 4-28. There will be room...
The trip is on. I got the invoice last night and we will go the last weekend of April, arriving Monday morning. We will be pulling the trailer with a Ford F250 with some room to spare.

I will need to pick up an MKT-85 kitchen trailer in Salt Lake, UT and get it to Denver, CO. If anyone is making a trip like that I could use some help.
Does anyone need anything hauled east from Salt Lake? If I don't find anyone else making that trip, I will probably rent a small box truck...
M101 variants
There are some trailers coming up on GL auction in Washington State that are 8 bolt:
http://cgi.govliquidation.com/auction/view?id=1643656&convertTo=USD
Others can be found by keyword "trailer" and state "Washington". If Washington wasn't so far away I would be an owner of one of...
I’m all for a Colorado rally and my son might be able to help with locating a site. He runs a paintball business and is presently scouting sites for his club. I’ll tap him for help. I am planning to visit the next MVCC meeting but my truck probably won’t be legal ‘til late May because of the...
Re: RE: Re: RE: Field mechanic in Vietnam
I'm sure those Marines needed a hard, flat surface more than we did. After all, their first MOS was Rifleman and they were good at it.
I have pictures of our peneprime depot at Dong Tam in flames during the '68 Tet. We lost a D8 trying to put out...
Re: RE: Field mechanic in Vietnam
Blacktop!! All we had in the Delta was dirt and occasionaly gravel.
Ditto on no roads that could be navigated at 50. I once got a speeding ticket in an M109 in "Ambush Alley" outside Dong Tam. If I'd known why he was pulling me over, I'd have run him over!
RE: form 97
Thanks for the info. I just sent one in and will drop 3 more on them now and another in 2 to 3 weeks when I pick up another trailer. I may be in trouble because I need the deuce on the road by May 1.
Go for it!!
I have hauled 3 M105s from Ft. Carson to northeast of Denver, 98 mi., with no problem, 2 behind my Original Bronco and 1 behind a big Dodge duelly.
There is not much chance of the brakes being locked up at GL. In the Army Reserves we occasionally had a problem with the shoes...
Looks familiar!!
On the opening day of the '68 Tet Offensive Charlie beat the #$%@$ out of our motor pool with 82mm mortars and none of our trucks were revetted. EVERYONE who didn't have a critical mission fell out to the motor pool for tire changing duty. A captain showed me how to do what...
Some time ago we had a thread running about converting trailers, but I couldn't find it. It was long enough ago that I might as well start a new one.
I bought a scrap M101A1 that was missing enough parts that I didn't need an EUC, but it had a complete box in excellent condition. I wanted a...
The tires still had the little hairs on the treats. This one and at least 2 others have delivery dates of 2006. I saw them several months ago when we were picking up a tent.
I want to add a positive comment about the folks at the GL sights. At Ft. Riley they helped me get road worthy in 115...
