Maintain battle short.
There is probably a relay bad or sensor somewhere. Whatever the battle short shorts is likely the culprit. Is there not a troubleshooting item in the TM about this?
I've had several 701As or 016Bs. I much prefer the Yanmars and their pull ropes. I haven't had to tune the Yanmars, yet, though.
I have a 016D with less than 200 hours and a 016E with less than 10 hours that I'm parting to make better use of the L100. The 016E was actually a 701 but was...
I thought a bad winding could possibly bog down a generator.
Don't they often slow RPMs when max load is exceeded?
Or, is that something that might happen to a brush type gen heads?
Either way I'm learning. I haven't had to go into the Yanmars beyond cleaning the IP and I haven't loaded my...
You can use an engine hoist (HF again). You can slide it down ramps.
They can be forked longways, but it needs to be done carefully.
OTOH, if you plans include keeping it on a trailer then it might be good to let them fork it onto the trailer.
HF trailers are cheap and effective. To get it home, though, most GL places have fork lifts. Maybe just have them fork it into your truck? I had an 003A in my Tacoma.
If you're going to just use it for a dolly for the gen and occasional road use, think about HF. Tires get old and need...
What are you using to pull the trailer? Depending on what you want there are a lot of options.

If you want the military look and function then the M101 trailers are good...
Could be regulator. Swap the two VRs and see?
Diode in the head, maybe? The VR feeds DC to the head to excite the field. The field induces AC into the rotor which is then rectified to DC to make the big part of the rotor a spinning electromagnet.
Does it immediately recover if you remove...
Agree with above. A bad battery can put a bad load on the charging system and cause problems. Also, if you use two 12V batteries they need to be similar. Mating two different size and shape batteries can cause problems.
The parts manual calls that a "bushing, nonmetallic". It is probably a spacer of some sort or guide for the hoses to go through a plenum or something.
Probably protects the hose and/or fitting from rubbing on something. IIRC, the oil cooler is inside the scroll so maybe the lines pass...
If you are getting 42VAC then your stator is probably good. At rest you should get like 6 Ohms resistance (IIRC). It is possible to get AC voltage from the stator when not loaded and then have it crap out when it tries to drive a load. But, most times stators go bad by going open, meaning a...
I think that is a regulator and rectifier. If so, it will take in AC and put out regulated DC. The AC inputs will probably be the same color and will connect to the coil output (coil under fan). The red would probably then be the regulated +24V and the ground or -24V would probably be the...
^ I think he's right. No brushes, no commutator.
That should be the exciter armature. There should be some diodes somewhere around it. In a brushless gen the exciter field energizes the exciter armature which feeds the main field DC which energizes the main armature.
You regulate DC to...
I kept my D pretty much stock. On my E, though, I plan to ditch the starter, battery, and other non-essential parts. Having to buy and maintain a bunch of batteries doesn't seem like fun to me. I'd prefer the units be lighter and have less stuff on them that require maintenance and/or...
