I did it with a A3 and had some issues but all is well that ends well. If you do, have insurance in hand and a Plan B because a lot of these trucks are not ready or able to do a trip.
Brent, I picked up 3 a few months ago and they brought them out of their compound on a forklift. The driver was great and worked a little extra to center the load on my 116 trailer.

The A3 has two plusses. First the seat can be dialed down to say 140 pound driver, then you would be a little lower but it is fine.
Second it has Air O Matic steering and the steering wheel is 2 inches smaller in diameter, so there you have a little more tummy room. Bottom line, though, is...
When I picked mine up the batteries were totally flat and the alternator blew as they were bringing it out of the gate.
I just mounted a commercial truck 24 volt one and so far it has been good to go.
The air is venting from the air dryer. I just serviced mine and it was a little over $100 for the dryer and filter combo kit. Erik's has the kit for about $150 but it can also be had from any big truck store.

I have a dual circuit truck, it has two separate air packs and lots of plumbing underneath. I do not know if there was a simpler system in 1970, but it is real easy to see compared to a single circuit system.
The military upgraded engines, seatbelts, and any other items from time to time but...
To me the big advantage to the A3 seat is being able to dial in the drivers weight. I leave it at a low setting and the seat sits lower allowing more space between the belly and the steering wheel.
LOL will do! I bought 3 and painted one semi gloss OD, another one tan and left the third one camo. I found the paint they came with was excellent.
