    East Coast Convoy/Aberdeen

Sign up for the East Coast Convoy on the Convoy website: http://www.eastcoastconvoy.com/ On the left side navigation tabs, there is one marked "register". This gets you registered for the Convoy and lets us (well, me actually) see where you are so that you can get assigned to a Serial Unit and...

    Towing M37 w/M35A2

Yep, you would need the length of the stretched truck, M36, just for a non winch model...

    Towing M37 w/M35A2

Never even thought of haulling one of my M37's in the back of the duece or five ton. Way too easy for me to slap the towbar on, drop a driveshaft, and ensure that the front manual hubs are unlocked...especially when compared to loading and securing a truck in the bed of the other truck (I have...

    Towing M37 w/M35A2

How far are you going? I've pulled them accross town without pulling the driveshafts without any problems, and (I will admit it) a couple of times have towed one accross the state (240 miles) without pulling them. In the case of the cross town drive, I knew that everything was in really top...

    Towing M37 w/M35A2

I've towed many a M37 behind a M35A2C and a XM813... for long distances (GA to NC, NC to MD, etc...) Never have had any issues with them following the larger truck, or with the steering misbehaving. Just pull the driveshafts, hook up the towbar, slap the tow lights on, and go. A duece will...

    New M37 Owners!

Congratulations!! The dataplates are reproduction (or later stock) replacements (one can tell from the screws used to attach them, ones from the factory had brass rivets...). The VIN number assigned at the factory was stamped on both the dash dataplate and on the driver's frame rail right in...

M816 T-case jumps out of gear!

Until you get it fixed correctly: bungee cord... :)

    East Coast Convoy/Aberdeen

The bold type on the homepage for the website has: "The 2010 East Coast Convoy arrives at East Coast Rally on Thursday, May 20th, 2010" If you go to the route info pages, you see the timing for each leg. So far, the only legs that run earlier than Thursday, May 20th are the ones from Canada...

    East Coast Convoy/Aberdeen

If we have folks that want to meet up at Millersville (and it looks like we do, we'll make sure that the Serial goes that way. As far as a route/schedule through West Virginia, that all depends on who is comming and from where... Sign up and we'll figure it out (collectively)... :) Thanks,

    M715 with 4bt cummins

Very nice. Looks just like it came from the factory that way. :) What transmission are you using?

    It's all in the timing

Bill's info on how to time a mule is dead on, unless you have one of the A5's that was converted to electric start at Ft. Campbell in the mid-eightees... They have a different pulley, so you have to set them by looking for the marks on the gears, and you have to set them offset one tooth...

    are these for 5ton singles

I'm not too worried about the tires or the eight wheel vehicle being discussed here... I just like the idea for two new emoticons since I would love to use them every time that somebody talks about having, using, wanting, a CUMMINGS... It is CUMMINS. :jumpin:

    M101a1 trailer tires

I have a web page (several, actually) devoted to this subject... :) For tires, see: Michelin 1100r16 XL tires For info/discussion on the tires, rims, lockrings, lug nuts, etc., see: Tires Good luck. PS: I notice that the URL gets shortened when a post is made and the name of the page...

    East Coast Deuce Bobbing???

John Winslow in Halifax, NC (just off I95 after you cross the VA/NC line) has done a bunch of bobbed duece and five tons over the years. I've driven several, and talked to a few of his customers and know that they were real happy with the trucks. For info on his recent projects, look at...

    Caution with loadouts!

Wreckerman has it IMHO... I have never had any issues with getting help loading stuff even though every lot that I ever picked up (for myself or others) has been listed as "buyer load". At some of the locations, there are a multitude of forklifts (various sizes and types) ramps and even use...

Does anyone make their own Bio-Diesel???

Hard to say about the infection... But keep in mind that average relative humidity for us runs from an afternoon low of 46% in April to a midday high of 92% in September. The average thus runs from 56% to 75%... So, we tend to get a lot of moisture in partial tanks. We just know that we...

    East Coast Convoy/Aberdeen

We have had some folks in the Morganton area participate in the past. Sign up, talk it up, and we'll see if we can get a march unit going from that area again this year... :)

Does anyone make their own Bio-Diesel???

I've made my own biodiesel in the past and liked how it worked in my MV's (and in a friends' construction equipment). I've since swithed to running a blend of WMO and diesel since my processing time is much lower (only have to filter and blend) and I can get the WMO for free whereas getting good...

    M101 gates and bows

The problem with cutting down posts is that the "pockets" have to be slightly larger in order for the bows to fit inside... The units that I have on my M37 (that came off a M101) came from a buddy (Charles at MSeries Rebuild) who had a bunch of M101 trailer sides with badly rotted wood. He...

Knuckleboom on a Deuce or 5 ton

I liked Bjorn's rig so much that I came very close two years ago to purchasing a truck out of Lejeune that had a comparable HIAB on it so that I could mount it on a M36 with a M35 dropside bed (figured that it would fit in the gap and that I would have the decent sized bed to haul stuff in along...
