    M939 Does not Idle

There is a specified measurement of travel for the FSOV when it is in the run position....leme see if I can find it Here they are. These are for A and P pumps with RQVK governors. IIRC, this is what the engines came with. If you have the MW pump, let me know and I can find that too

    M925 Weird vibration/noise at idle.

Some noises are normal, listen hard enough and you can hear your mama calling you fat lady sings. If it has good oil pressure and no plumes of smoke out of the oil filler or blow by tube and not hammering from the bottom, run it

fuel shutoff solenoid on the cummins 8.3

No check valve there. That is injector return. a 6mm banjo bolt, no screen, no check valve. There are two check valves in the lift pump and 1 at the galley return at the pump, this is the one that makes the low pressure in the pump.

MakeSafe International's M925A2 Systems Command Vehicle thread

Stay away from a dc only refrig. The batteries will be sucked dry.

    M813 5 Ton Overheating

No, because of the design and installation of the liner and head gasket design. I should correct myself though. The old style gaskets, metal with neoprene grommets around one of the center head bolts and white water passage grommets will not put compression into the cooling system. The newer...

What is the SAE bell-housing size for the 8.3 and 250?

There are like 8 different sizes of flywheel housing sizes. Cummins mainly uses 1, 2 and 3. I have seen 0, only once and 4 only once, not on a C series though. That's why, if someone can post an ESN, I can find out what the gooberment spec was...

    M813 5 Ton Overheating

Nah, the gasket on an 855 will push compression out the sides before putting pressure in the cooling system. Is the top tank real hot and the bottom tank on the other side of the lower rad hose cold? The reason for checking the temp away from the outlet is that if the w/p is failed and no...

What is the SAE bell-housing size for the 8.3 and 250?

Give me an engine s/n and I can tell ya. Most likely a #2, but give me a s/n to make sure.

Cummins FSOV Specs Here ya go....Want me to sticky this?

fuel shutoff solenoid on the cummins 8.3

Sorry, just saw this. No. there are 12 and 24 volt FSOVs. The solenoid has two coils in it, pull in and hold in..... A, red wire, hold in......B, white wire, pull in...C, black wire, ground. Pull in is wired to the crank circuit, some OEMs wired to the starter solenoid, this will pull the FSOV...

Found this Cummins 6cta 8.3 spec spec sheet

"Also was curious to see they list fuel burn of roughly 13 gph. That would mean at steady 55 mph, you're only getting around 4 mpg. I think most feedback I've seen recounting long trips claim fuel economy was 8 to 10 mpg." Because it is industrial and a fire pump. Automotive, Industrial...

    M923A2 elusive electrical short

24 volts has nothing to do with it, wiring is wiring. A DVOM is your friend. What is the issue?

    Oil Pan gasket Info

You DO need to lay a thin bead of silicone based adhesive on the pan rail joints where the rear seal carrier and gear housing meet, just on the block side, nowhere else. Don't use rubber based silicone, the acids in the engine oil attack it, turn it to goo and you will have a leak again.

    Military vehicles at car shows

Used to, quite often. The SCMVCC was asked to participate in them all the time. We would pull up, get into position and all the people around us would be dusting and waxing their junk, I would woop out a rattle can and start touching up! They loved me

New head gasket - advice on oil leak

Where is the leak starting from? IIRC, the heads are oiled at the front rt side....could be mistaken, old age ya know! so if it is on the fuel pump side, it ain't a h-gasket. Also, a leak always starts out high and ends up on a lower portion of the engine, look higher for the point of origin.

    Compressor Replacement Video

32 foot lbs. the compressor also needs to be timed or it will be noisy. there is a hash mark on the comp drive gear. that needs to be aligned with the notch on the compressor mounting flange...on the compressor...the hash mark will be at the 300 position when looking at it from the front. You...

    Compressor Replacement Video

The studs into the gear housing are coated with a locking agent from Cummins. No other locking agent is needed on the compressor mounting EXCEPT for the hardware that mounts the two rear, bottom support pieces, 6 capscrews in total, two into the bottom of the comp from the flat plate, two from...

    Compressor Replacement Video

It isn't a Cummins part, it is what the OEM uses as the discharge line. Measure the line and go to your local industrial hose outlet and they can make it for you out of DOT air comp discharge braided stainless with the ends you need.

    Compressor Replacement Video

And, if it's an 855, it's easier/faster to remove the complete accessory drive/comp/fuel pump as an assembly and do the components on the bench. just make sure the timing is set when you go back together.
