    CTIS and Arduino

Well from the A1 schematic, it shows 3 possible power feeds(H,M & Z). With 3 feed points, you could control up to 7 different program responses/configurations. If they kept pin H as a constant, as it seems to be shown as connected in all the info I have, you could switch between 4 different...

    2009 Lmtv M1078A1 Charging System

No LED on the regulator means it isnt being told to come online(or broke). With the cab up and engine running, do you have 24v on the 24v alt output terminal? if so you can use a jumper wire to apply 24v from the 24v terminal to the EXC screw terminal on the regulator. The exc terminal is the...

I will look back thru my notes when I get home.

    CTIS and Arduino

I believe they all use the same connector, i think the difference lies in which pin in the connector receives power, which determines how the controller is supposed to behave. Had this discussion a long while back with someone and we discovered different power on different pins…

LMTV M1078 Transmission oil confusion...please help!

Yea forcing it to relearn shift points is a good idea. It is also good to first confirm the TPS is functional and the throttle cables on the 3116 properly move the governor between the idle stop and the full throttle stop with throttle pedal application.

    step replacement options

Yea pneumatic would be cool, you might need a bypass to release/lower the steps when the tanks are empty. As mentioned, you would need to be carefull about design and tire clearance when raising the cab. I had thought about fold-ups using a gas strut, so they automatically retract when you...

    step replacement options

The chain ones look interesting, i recall a vid of a truck using them in africa. Looked like they worked well and didn't hang up on the tires when lowering the cab(might be how your cables got damaged). The stub on the end of the cable usually hangs up on the tread and folds back and bends as...

    Oil bath front hubs.

I think they call it a seal guide on that Meritor sheet. They are the 24 and 25 parts shown on either side of the hub 26, in your drawing. It goes plain seal, outer CTIS seal, air gap(over the air port in the spindle) then inner CTIS seal and plain seal on the other side before you get to the...

    2009 Lmtv M1078A1 Charging System

What superman said. No lights on the reg means either it isn’t getting excite power from K11 after the engine reaches 15 PSI oil pressure, or it has an issue. Green would be good, yellow low volt and red overvolt. I suspect they are either not lit or yellow otherwise the volt meter should be...

    Oil bath front hubs.

you are talking about both inner and outer bearings and hub gears oil lubricated? I suppose you could, you would have to adjust the oil level in the fronts to accommodate the added volume of the inner hub, capped ctis passages and bearing exposed by removing the plain and ctis seals…

    LMTV Cab Suspension Airbags Alternative

Yea thats why I am going to move away from this configuration and move to much more common and available standalone bags and shocks.

I have operated a few pieces of equipment with filter-minder gauges over the years. I have never fouled an air filter bad enough to ever activate one:)

LMTV M1078 Transmission oil confusion...please help!

In addition to the torque conv, There is also oil in the cooler and lines. As mentioned takes a few drain/fill/run cycles to purge most of the old oil, that or a complete disassembly and teardown:)

LMTV M1078 Transmission oil confusion...please help!

Yea but in nearly every instance they use the same basic hardware and are serviced in the same way, so even if you have an A1, read the A0 manuals… the biggest difference is electrical, but even there there are a lot of similarities…

    CTIS and Arduino

What makes them different is the vehicle harness. I think at some point they tried to make one controller work with and behave differently in multiple vehicles. iE: different pressure settings for a highway tractor vis a truck that may see more off-road time. I believe they did this by...

LMTV M1078 Transmission oil confusion...please help!

Yep, the transfer case on most vehicles is an entirely separate animal. On this beast, that is only partially true. The transfer gets fluid fed to it thru the transmission output housing, and they use a scavenger pump on the passenger side pto location on the transmission that pumps fluid back...

New Dash Layout in the works……

Oh for CTIS, not yet. There is one for the original design on Youtube, that works fine. but I modified it to include a latching relay circuit. was sketching out another that uses a SCR instead of a relay, then had yet another idea that I have not had a chance to run to ground yet… some days...
