M1079 no start and no display on Allison transmission

These are the two sheets in the schematic I am referring to... You can also follow the power from PX33 J1 and J2 thru to the trans controller connector J115...

M1079 no start and no display on Allison transmission

don't know what that is, is it written for the installation used in the FMTV? Got a link so we are on the same page? They use this trans in a lot of vehicles with a lot of different configurations. Unless that manual is specific for this vehicle its troubleshooting may not be applicable...

M1079 no start and no display on Allison transmission

The VIM receives both 12 and 24V from CB21, 35 and 79 either directly or via Terminal Board 1. TB1 is broken into sections and is used to distribute 12 or 24V. Anytime you see TB1 it means DC power. TB2 is connected to the ground buss in the PDP so anytime you see TB2 it means ground. Where is...

    winch configuration

Yes, it appears the lmtv could be rigged for it pretty easily CoachGeo, thanks for the steer, Ibex uses the Foers Vector winch system, which is what I was looking for. http://www.offroadexpress.kiwi/Forums/viewtopic.php?t=39323

    winch configuration

Yep. The configuration I am referring to though, you didn't have to move the cable around. It could pull front, back, side or even combinations. You basically can pull out a loop of cable into a snatch block anyplace you have a fairlead setup.

    winch configuration

While looking at something else unrelated, I came across a discussion on here a while back regarding a type of side/mid mount winch installation. Unfortunately I didn't bookmark it and cannot now seem to find it again. Basically the cable started at the winch ran along the frame to a fairlead...

M1078 with 225hp and high speed gears: pro's and con's

Last I recall, Sean "turned up" his 3116 by replacing the governor, turbo and taking it to Cat to tune it to the 290HP spec... Yes, you can make some adjustment to the aneroid valve setting on the governor to make it a little peppier, but in the end the 290HP engine uses a different governor...

M1078 with 225hp and high speed gears: pro's and con's

Probably the biggest advantage is not running the engine at full RPM just to maintain normal highway speed... This is good for a few MPG...

M1079 no start and no display on Allison transmission

Yes, batt neg to the ground tp in the PDP should be pretty low resistance. If all the lights are working and you get 12 and 24 at the test points the ground has to be there and it is probably OK The polarity box has 6 wires connected to its 4 terminals. 2 from the battery, 2 from the alt and 2...

M1079 no start and no display on Allison transmission

Behind the passenger kickpanel you will either have a VIM(wtec2) or the trans controller(wtec3). Since you are using the acronym vim, And it has fuses inside I would say you have a wtec2. if you have power thru those fuses then you either have a bad connection to the trans controller under the...

    Keyed Ignition Switch Issues

No, it is probably OK. To cobine power and start together on an A0, You need a switch with two separate and distinct contactors. The power switch switches DC from CB70 to power the main relay K2. The start pushbutton provides a pathway to ground to energize the start relay. if this sw is only...

Air Dryer(old style) Clean and Inspect.

That bucket I washed in had a pour spout, i just poured right from the bucket to the media bag. i have used a microwave to dry absorbing media spread out on a paper towel as well as a toaster oven. You could also use a space heater with the media spread out on newspaper or brown paper... The...

Air Dryer(old style) Clean and Inspect.

Took my Air Dryer apart, cleaned the components, washed the media and checked the heater operation. I did not strip the purge valve as it is operating OK and the canister only had a little bit of emulsified oil in it. https://youtu.be/nx9ElpOz2Zg

    Air dryer

Could be the purge valve is not acting right or is full of crap. The finned LMTV dryer has a rubber dust seal and elbow over the outlet. That seal looks like a duck bill with a slit in it. When the purge valve opens, the rush of air thru the dust seal forces it wide open and you get a large...

    Air dryer

I work with various type of air drying systems, it is not indicating desiccant, it doesn't Really absorb moisture, it wouldn't last long if it did as you would have to apply a lot of heat and flow to dry it out. Google coalescing filter for a better description, but basically the media doesn't...

Worth mentioning - Hidden failures of wires that connect to batteries

Didn't assume anything, just going by personal experience with power systems. Mine do not appear to be silver plated, but are crimped. You know silver oxide is black right? No issue with soldered connections, and in a properly soldered connection, the tips of the wire DO touch the connector:)...
