    Winch/crane on M35A3

I have to think on that Chris, I cut it down to take the S-788 Geithner shelter (sitting in my way) and I have altered the hitch to fit my 2 5/16" ball. I't would make a good welder trailer too. If you want, Pm me a price to buy the 105 outright. You know I bought the 1101 right, but I've...

    Winch/crane on M35A3

I'm not liking the LMTV bed for this 4x4 project. It's longer than the OEM bed. I'm not cutting the frame shorter and I hope to do away with the large rear overhang, remove the bumper-etts and keep the rear axle toward the rear, (nearly) in it's original position. That brings me back to...

    New M35A3 owner in Maine

On the picture with the torque converter you can see an adaptor ring, that adapts to the SAE specification flywheel (not sure which one without researching). The 545 would need the same bolt pattern on it's face or one of the adaptors. Plenty of 545's are mated to the Cat 3116. If the thing...

    New M35A3 owner in Maine

Welcome and good luck with your A3. I have an A3 also, about to become a 4x4. Were your tires checked that you took off? Here is the problem with the A3...the tranny 4th and reverse clutch pack have a seal that wears out prematurely, lets it slip and then burn up the aluminum piston...

    Winch/crane on M35A3

Just wondering about class 2 or 3. Google brought up some 3 for about $14.00 but I'm not sure I want that big of pin. Class 2 will probably be right for my project. I'd like the boom(s) to be nice and long but that make stowage or removal more difficult, without tube in tube extension or...

    M105 hub?

I'm opening this older thread to ask some questions about the M105 hub. I'm wondering about using an M35A3 wheel and 14.5 tire, but having the dish out. On the M35 it's "reversing the hub" that makes it possible to have the dish out and a wider stance. I think it's determined the M105 hub...

    Winch/crane on M35A3

Sure, that would work. Do you have a surplus of them? How wide or what size pipe are they designed for?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I bought several when they were plentiful and either sold them or used components on other stuff. Now I want to find a few more to repurpose some parts and then still have one to pull with these wheels. Hope it can go dish out, but I'll have to see. I've received a couple with my 1/2 ton...

    Possible air compressor failure M925A2

Good for you! Sometimes we feel like we crawl and other times we make significant progress. I red primer paint what I can on the inside to keep rust down (or high heat) and use red grease liberally, but not globs. It seems to help, since some moisture is inevitable. Maybe we should have...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Looks like a straight trailer...enjoy Ross! Do yourself a favor - get a peak in the roof so water will not pond. I've had several and want another for a deuce bed. Also I want to see what one looks like with the M35A3 wheels and 14.5 tires. I'll see if I have a picture of the wheel/tire...

    Winch/crane on M35A3

GG, yea that pin being straight and having to go from straight with the truck to angled is not clear to me. That said, splitting the angle in half and making a large pin bearing, might work fine. I think I have something similar for weld in hinges that I make from CR heavy wall and grade 8...

    Winch/crane on M35A3

Okay, I've read and looked at threads until it's all blending together. Thanks for all the help. Can someone please explain the use of the tail block? I see it on a lot of rear pole cranes but don't understand why the cable can't go directly to the top of the A frame from the winch. Is a...

5 ton Buying tips-Help for Newbies-What to look for and what to be prepared to fix.

The short wheelbase is the most maneuverable in city driving. That would be the M931 tractor (or it's equal in the older models) or the M929 dump truck. You can find some rebuilt tractors that are really nice condition (I just sold one, the best overall quality I have had) at (relatively) low...

    republic of korea army m35a2

How about it truckdriver ....can we buy the whole trucks? I just noticed the lights on the M35 model....That's exactly what I'm doing to my A3 to get the turn signal down from where the engine cowl hits it. They took our truck and made it better while we made the LMTV/MTV at 4x the price. Is...

M939 Potential Junkyard Rescue Need Advice

Imagine watching brand new MRAP's being destroyed and you can't even get one of the new tires or knuckle-boom cranes. New Cats just destroyed. No wonder we're in massive debt as a nation and it's getting worse. My opinion, but you don't need an anchor that eats money. How much just to move...

    Winch/crane on M35A3

The distance of "slip" is very small but it is necessary, especially when not perfectly in line with each other. Simply measuring it won't give you the length of the spline or it's female mate. I expect having + or - 1/4" movement should work and at least the length of spline inside the female...
