I just sold my M931 because I couldn't afford a RGN trailer and a dump trailer and three MV trucks was at least one too many. This A3 deuce is a sweet truck but major mods will probably reduce it's value, not increase it. Front winch (only) may not.
I buy, fix and sell (while 5 tons were...
Below is a picture of my boomtruck. I have a broken hyd fitting in the second extension that needs repaired. It's at the shop and we have had a hard time squeezing it in. I used honeymoon money to buy it 28 years ago. Obviously I have an understanding wife. Every major component for the...
I like the clear field of vision in the front compared to having it behind. The steering makes it easier to position and I mostly work by myself.
A bed winch can be handy also and the rear can handle a lot more loading. I had hoped to make the bed dump, which would not happen with the...
Hi Chris, Oh yea on the many details. I probably want about 2 tons close in, standing up and maybe 1 ton laying flat and be able to carry the load (drive from A to B on the farm and also go down the (country) road with it lowered).
How about air overloads? That is a lot of leverage. Or...
Look what I found.....ready to go.

I should ask for a commission. Even for PU in Central NJ.
I'd use fine thread and take one of my old taps and flatten it, taking about 1/4" off so it will tap to near the bottom after running a (fine, new) tap down. Caution, bottoming the tap gets solid fast and you can break them off easy.
Just purchased an LMTV hydraulic winch and am looking for ideas for a pipe crane using the front winch for the main line, on an M35A3. I think they are rated at 11,000.
Overloading the front springs may be an issue.
I may have to make top boom supports go clear behind the cab and having a...
Willyk, see the 395 that Valence linked? The 395 could go on a deuce A3 wheel, same pattern.
Or while they are pricey, the 365 or 14.5 if you don't want to go to the very large 395. In fact, I think I saw four in classified with 14.5.
Yea, that is what I was after. The guys with models have some good photo's for proportions. I found the M59 dump and it is small, not tall on the sides. Thanks
Why not go to the tires that are on an M1061 aka "bolster". They are several inches shorter, but 16.5" and while I've never seen them on the HMMWV wheels, they should fit fine.
Make it "great again"?? ...I'm not sure they were ever "great" but they were made in abundance and when sliced. make great components to other projects. Here is the bed...sold it so the guy could finish it while I was out of town. He was ready to put the dump setup on it for wood hauling with...
Sure Ted, the body has broken free of the pin part of the weldment.
You are replacing the broken weldment with the part in the photo above. That should do it.
Re the tightness, it should turn freely and only be tightened to keep it in place.
I expect a welder could repair yours, but...
See the bolt that the entire caster assembly pivots on? Look down it and see if all the surfaces are at 90* or if it's bent around that bolt . They get bent sideways and have to be taken apart, straightened and reassembled so that they will go fully into the up stored position and the down...
Do you have zoning restrictions where you live that prevent a heavy vehicle from being kept, like a subdivision?
The 1078 has a lot of fans but I think the 5 tons, M939 are a good value if you can deal with the size.
Doghead, it does make handling easier.
My m931A2 has at least one weak battery that takes them all down. Since I'm selling it and it's by the road, having a battery that will not start it is a good thing. It's much harder to take on a joy ride.
I have a set of jumpers made from DC mining...
