Near the front racks on each wall were wiring for the GPFU, gas particulate filter system, the switch for them is on the dash next to the side light switches. For 12v I ran another wire into the cab from the 12v junction block on the firewall.
Winch and lower brackets arrived as well as the mounting tray, chain and other brackets. The winch was dated in the early 70's and had a FSN on the data plate, amazing what still lingers new in old warehouses. In the process of blasting and painting the used brackets.
So thanks to UPS losing parts from one of my previous winch parts shipment I was missing the winch side of the pto shaft. I purchased a used one from Arts Parts in MN, the u-joint seals were in tough shape so I took it apart, cleaned and painted it and started looking for a new u-joint. The...
My resistor has a top and bottom connection, the plugs are keyed so the top and bottom can't be exchanged. Left side terminals top to bottom 5.3 ohms, right side top to bottom terminals 1.3 ohms, this is with the wiring connectors off. Went to my parts truck and of course it's missing.
All of a sudden my old reliable 882 won't stay running in the "on" position of the key. It will start and run in the "crank" position but as soon as you release the key to the "run" position it shuts right off. Any help appreciated.

When I restored my M38 I purchased my NDCC tired from universal tire, they have the correct tubes and flaps and are familiar with military vehicles. They attend a lot of shows and can deliver them to save shipping.
Installed the pto today, was not too bad of a job. I filled the pto with gear oil last night and drained it out today, thought it would be a good idea to pre lube it. I did not have a gasket so I made one from the back cover of a M151 hand receipt manual, got to keep it GI. I also needed a...
So today was the day to start prep work for the winch install. The most dreaded part is drilling the 2" hole through the front hull, so I figure go for that first. Inside the hull is a 3" flange welded to the front hull, this is where the winch shaft enters the hull and also where the seal...
I have my own 2 meter repeater on a commercial site, a Motorola Quantar mixed mode, analog and P25 digital. Comes in quite handy and most hams don't have P25 so it's almost like having a private system. You really don't need the extra class license, I just did it to prove to myself I could do it.
