Nice, I was a 92L in the Army for a while, after school they said these trailers were rare and that we probably would never see one in actual service.

NDT nailed it, a remote oil filter which sure would make changing the filter easier, leave it to the military to change it to make it harder.

Filter looks good, I did the same with mine. I think you are on the right track.

Those backing bolts should be 5/16-24, be sure to back them off before installing the drums or they will crack the drum. Glad to see you are making progress, my brakes looked about the same. I have extra brake springs if you can't find any.

Since the flange and drum have 8 holes I would say the transfer case maker, I think mine only has 4, I'll have to take a look.
