Very cool. My plan is to include some other features such as an auto start which is why I'm going with a microcontroller with more IO. Plus I have a bunch of them laying around. I was toying around with doing a custom layout but thought I would do it with off the shelf parts with the idea that...
Some of the photos are not working.
I'm working down a similar path. I'm using an arduino mini pro. I'm using a motor driver to control the actuator.
Good luck on your project!!
The gauge is a balanced coil gauge. It will stay where it is when power is removed.
If it doesn't move when the fuel level changes with it running - then you have a problem.
Yes AND why I'm saying to insulate it all the way up. Let the moisture go out because any condensation you have in the exhaust will collect soot and unburned fuel. It will make a mess inside the pipe.
This is why I don't recommend going larger on an exhaust pipe. That slows down the gas...
An old set of leather working tools (punches and chisels) is great for cutting gaskets. You can sometimes find them in old thrift shops and estate sales.
Did you check to see if the fuel cut-off solenoid is retracting?
Give the TM a look for no start condition troubleshooting. The things we will suggest you do is exactly what you'll see in the TM.
Yea, People tend to get a little defensive when we ask if they have read the TM but there are really good reasons for that.
Your situation is a really good example why directing people to the manual to follow the troubleshooting guides is so important. Its not laziness on our part.
If it won't stay running with no battery I suggest troubleshooting the 24v power supply/battery charger on the unit. Sounds like its not making any juice.
Do you think that the lifters are collapsed instead of pumped up? Could the valves be not opening at all?
I would suggest taking the lifters apart and making sure they are all OK. Refill them with clean oil.
Timing could certainly cause the valves and the pistons to touch. Does the cylinder...
I use a water bottle with the bottom corner cut out. Put an o-ring around the neck of the bottle or a few wraps of electrical tape so it fits into the radiator filler neck snug.
What's more important than the actual level is the tone of the sound. The lower tones from the MEPs are much less harsh than a higher RPM gas engine.
In the house the sound of the MEP barely comes through. I like hearing it outside purring away confidently.
