I'll keep my fingers crossed it's something simple. The amount of relief I felt yesterday after figuring out I just had a broken hose clamp on the turbo versus something majorly wrong is indescribable. Here's hoping you have the same luck
Yeh I wimped out and lowered the cab. It was definitely easier with more slack in the chain but still had to fight getting it all the way seated. Waaaaay too much trouble for a car show. I had a step ladder and crowbar to help at home so don't need the hassle for something most people...
The chain is through the hub opening. I'll try loosening the chain up the trip back up. It'll probably be with the manual pump after all the moving I've been doing with the power one. Guessing I'm close to being out of air. I could lower the cab and air the tanks back up but I'd just have to...
So I had to lower the tire in order to get the front of the cargo cover secured because of the position of the right side hooks (even the TM tells you to do this). The problem is I don't have the OEM chain so thought I could let it go for the trip to Austin. I made it but obvious why it needed...
Well there's a large number of outstanding people in the area just not Austin itself. If Sarge hadn't been on his way the one person that did stop would have covered us. I was just surprised no one else stopped.
On a side note, there probably would be one that stopped as JUST as we were...
Austin is a wonderful city. Unfortunately it's populated by a large number of less than wonderful people. People very similar to the types I'm sure you work around in the DC area
The trailer is fun to drain after it's got 3 or 4" in it. Just park on a slight incline, open the tailgate, and get washed down the driveway when it comes roaring out (wearing a swim suit is recommended).
I have to say I'm a little disappointed in my fellow Texans. We sat for about 45 minutes on the side of the road with the cab tilted and only had 1 person stop to see if we needed help (other than a State Trooper). If I see an MV, whether active, Guard, Reserve, or privately owned, broken down...
I can rent you mine but be warned it's extremely dry.
Finally made it home. It was much more comfortable driving home in the dark at 85 than in the daylight at 95. AND it was uphill both ways.
Well I'm Irish so Murphy sent his little brother instead of showing up himself. For the huge thud, whoosh of air, and banging that started I figured a tow was in order (or if really bad a TOW - you anti-tank guys will get that). To be able to fix it in under a minute with a new hose clamp was...
First coat of primer and 383 Green on the new shackles. Going to need several more coats of green to be thick and tough enough for the TX sun/heat. Only going to be 98 today and I'm going to make about a 200 mile round trip. Sure would be nice to have the AC done.
And on the truck.
