    Working on the M1078 LMTV

I was considering using a piece of welding rod to replace it. You might try that.

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

Well a little good news. On a hunch I went back and searched the bottom of the door shell and found the rod. Now I need to take the driver door apart to make sure I have it reinstalled correctly. Edit: Unfortunately what wasn't anywhere to be found was the little push in clip that holds the...

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

It doesn't last long and doesn't leak enough to drain the air tank but you can stick your finger up inside the housing and feel the air escaping.

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

And the next shoe...took the right door apart to replace the handle with a keyed one. In case you haven't done this there's a great video by tybaslee in the thread: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?152582-FMTV-Door-Key I tried locking the door from the inside at the car show last...

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

Bad news in the "what else is going to go wrong" category. The right airbag is now leaking. Not anything that the pump can't keep up with but there's a steady hiss from it after shutting the truck off. Anyone change these yet? Just wondering how much of a PITA it's going to be and how long I...

    FMTV Door Key?

I took my handles to a locksmith and he was able to match both handles to the same key. One was already set to that key and he charged me $35 to set the other one up the same. Now I just have to put them both in :)

    M1040 Fast Attack Vehicle (FAV)

The Yakima Training Center is high mountain desert. Not too many sand dunes but lots of sage brush and loads of Mt St Helens ash. The photos you posted look like they were taken at Ft Lewis rather than Yakima. I wasn't stationed there until '87 and by that time they were a rare sight.

Are they as "unobtainable" as the rest of the system?

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

Allen, here's the shots of the antennae mount. The power cable that comes out of the back of the cab actually goes in to the mount on the bottom side of where the magnets are. I have not seen one of the antennae so not sure exactly what it looks like. Other things I'm working on today, just...

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

Hey, I offered to buy some but I'm on a schedule. If the OD LMTV Upgrade Co can't provide the products I need in a timely manner I need to take my business elsewhere. Maybe we can revisit our relationship in the next fiscal quarter :) I remembered seeing it somewhere but didn't know it was...

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

Thanks to Sargentwolf I was able to snag a pic of a 1078 with the panels installed! Unfortunately I thought if I got them for my truck I'd be rather unique but now it looks like someone else will be running around with them. Something else this truck has that I might emulate is the Gerry can...

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

These are actually called Combat Identification Panels but what they do is provide an IR signature when seen through thermal sights. Here's a pic with the panels on a HMMWV. And here's a close up of one.

Sad Days, Hats off, Beers up!

I'd say she held up pretty good for taking out a phone pole. Glad you're okay and able to ride in another 1009.

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

I'll try and get one tomorrow. I was told it was the antennae mount for the MTS system. It is also magnetic with a circle of magnets on the top of the base vs on the bottom of the strobe.

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

Does anyone have pics of an LMTV with IR panels mounted on the cab? I've got the holes where ones were but can't seem to find any photos.

    Goat Project

\ I knew you were slow but seems like you're going backwards now. You better catch up or I might get another one to just try and beat you :)
