My money's on this is going to be a settings problem. Someone's messed with either the (timing), and/or (fuel delivery). I agree the 2cycle oil is not going to (cause or fix) the smoking symptom. And the O.P. should run it on straight diesel until this problem is diagnosed. That being said, I do...
As I said before, you need to check the timing and see if someone has advanced it. here's a quick video showing how it's done. https://youtu.be/GMev83skH6M I also agree too much 2cycle oil could cause the smoke. I run 1quart per tank and it runs much smoother and quieter with no smoke.
My M1028 has a banks turbo, thus the fuel is turned up and it doesn't smoke at all. Sounds to me like either the fuel mite be turned up too far, or the timing is advanced a little too much, Or maybe both? Check your timing marks on the front of the pump.
Well the best I can find on ACdelco's site is a universal pigtail (PT2330), Here's a link....http://parts-catalog.acdelco.com/catalog/catalog_search.php
I was thinking bigger 33" tires mite help me get better MPG on the highway. But after reading this thread it seems that theory is out the window :? ....(M1028, Banks turbo, Gear vendors O.D., stock 4.56 gears, 31" tires)..
I drive my M1028, (648miles) per month on the highway, 31" tall tires, 456 gears, Banks sidewinder turbo, Gear vendors overdrive. Strangely enough it gets EXACTLY 12.84 MPG, loaded, or unloaded, driving 70-75 miles per hour.:shrugs:
Mine eats belts :-?. Mostly on the drivers side alternator. They start loosing chunks, I had one come apart and take out the power steering belt next to it, That was a fun drive home. I've yet to find the happy medium between too tight, and too loose. this goes for Gates and Napa brand.
Here they are....Harmonic balancer (Dorman) #594-128..... Cooling fan clutch (AC Delco) #15-4911..... Radiator (Genesis auto parts) #ALL34728X2098AA.... I was unable to find a harmonic balancer installer with the correct thread & size. Soo I bought/ordered a bolt & nut 3X longer then the...
Well got my new all aluminum radiator installed Saturday and it definitely made a big difference. Temp doesn't go above 200° even with the EGT at 900°. I also replaced the fan clutch and the harmonic balancer. I'm glad I did, the balancer didn't look like it was wobbling, but it sure as heck...
So as it's bin getting warmer here in GA my, M1028 has also bin getting warmer on the highway, sometimes up to 210°. So I figured I'd try a new radiator, fan clutch, and (unrelated, but sense I had the rad out) a new harmonic balancer. I found this rad on line, but it says it for C30. Is there a...
Update.. So it's bin a little over a month sense I over filled the trans to see if that fixed the problem. And it did,.. well sort of. I stopped buy the local trans shop and talked to the owner who was VERY knowledgeable. He looked at it and said the trans is not damaged and the problem probably...
yeah it came with the pan. It looked like a composite and when it started leaking I figured it was something I did wrong. But when I pulled the pan the fluid had seeped right through the gasket. And looked like cardboard. I replaced it with a felpro rubber gasket and it's dry as a bone now.
Well hope you're wrong, it was working fine until I changed the fluid. And it still shifts perfectly. I just added another quart of fluid .I'll find out tomorrow if that helps. I still wonder if this is the wrong fluid?
I agree with keeping things simple or stock for the most part. However I use this truck as my daily driver and work truck towing and hauling heavy loads down the highway. I added a banks sidewinder turbo and a Gearvendors overdrive to help with that. The truck was getting a little hot on the...
Okay I'll try and make this short, but I want to explain it all. I changed the trans fluid, and swapped the pan out for a after market deeper one. The gasket that came with the new pan failed spraying trans fluid EVERYWHERE! So I degreased the whole underside of the truck, Installed a new...
