I'm thinking I'll keep all my trans related posts in one thread from now on to keep the forum clean.
I pulled the old rear main today, dropped the flywheel at the shop to have it resurfaced, and ordered new flywheel bolts from mcmaster. Had to drill four holes in the old rear main before it...
I don't see the deuce being very practical in the zombie apocalypse scenario no matter what you do to it. It's loud, big, and not armored. The zombies would hear you coming from miles away and one shot to the radiator is all it really takes to end your trip... People always talk about bugging...
So I used an impact to get the flywheel bolts off, but I don't want to overtorque them when I reinstall. What do you guys use to keep the flywheel from spinning when you're tightening the bolts?
If that's all it weights I'm definitely going to pull it. The TM writers and I must have different definitions of very heavy :) Thanks for the advice guys.
I'm trying to decide whether to take the flywheel out and do the rear main (doesn't leak yet) or be lazy and just install the new clutch parts. What do you think?
I'm almost done tearing out my old brake lines/hoses and I had to be generous with my propane torch to get some of the fittings off. My question is can I reuse the old brake tees after they've been heated?
If I do replace them the only replacements I've been able to locate don't have brackets...
If you're tearing everything apart why not just do all your lines too?
25' of steel line is under $30 at any parts store. You need 5/16" and 1/4".
double flare kit another $30
rubber lines are probably around $80 for all of them on ebay
I'm doing this project this weekend because one of the...
Yes, hostility. I own too many guns and vote the wrong way to qualify for my hippie card. I think these types of replies discourage new people from posting and hurt the hobby and the community. **** that does sound like hippie bs now that I read it again. That's just my opinion though. Do what...
It's difficult to discuss something if you can't show people what you're talking about. I obviously don't own the company that's selling the things on ebay. I also don't expect some customer service rep at this company to know what fits a deuce and what doesn't.
Finally, what's with all the...
Sweet setup. I have that same generator from HF. Here's another interesting setup with a bigger generator Installing a Diesel Generator on an M35A2 Truck
I found it while looking for other places to put a generator on a deuce.
Yep I got it from Kevin and yes it's a winch truck. I'd just rather pay to tow it and have a chance to go through it all myself before I take it out on the road. Kevin is already giving me a master to put in it. I just want to do it myself.
