I want to clean out the crap on the bottom of the trans while I have the top cover off. What's safe to spray in there? I was thinking brake cleaner, but wanted to ask the experts first.

Going to try a couple of studs and take the PTO off. If that doesn't work the trans jack will be my backup plan. Nuts on the PTO look crusty as **** though. Won't be fun taking them off.
Not quite as bad with a 20% coupon. I have G286s and my measurement was right around 31" from the floor to trans. I guess if it doesn't reach I can put a piece of plywood under it to give it an extra inch.
I've been unable to get the trans back on my m35a2 with the hoist method. The PTO makes it lean to the side and makes it pretty much impossible to align with the holes. Seems like a trans jack would make the reinstall much easier since you can adjust it up/down and side to side.

Any thoughts on how long I should run the motor to check for leaks in the new rear main? I just ran it for 35 mins and don't see any oil at the bottom of the bellhousing
I installed a new rear main and would like to check my work before I put the trans back on. If I put the flywheel back on and leave the clutch/pp off is it safe to run the truck for a few minutes to see if it leaks?
So I installed the new pilot bushing, but now the clutch alignment tool won't fit inside. I don't know what I could have done wrong. I pulled the old one with a slide hammer and tapped in a new one.
Can I sand the inside of the bushing down to get the shaft to fit? If not what should I do...
