Looks like you were in my usual spot at Mabry. I generally like it under the trees and I can also watch while they bring the tanks out the front door of the museum. Sadly this was the second event of the year I had to miss. Hope you can make the Central Texas Air Show in Temple though. I'd...
PM sent. Nice thing about this vendor is FREE shipping. It was a heavy enough box that I needed to get the hand cart to move it from the front porch to the shop. I'd hate to think what the shipping would have been.
Wow! Ordered my sound deadening material on Monday and it was on the porch this afternoon. I'm using GTMat 80mil that I got off eBay. Another LMTV owner used this for his (can't remember who or what thread) and he used a smart phone based decibel meter and showed a substantial reduction in...
I just received 100 sqft of GTMat 80mil. I got mine off eBay and it came with seam tape and a roller. Another LMTV owner said he used this on his truck (can't remember what thread it was in though). He applied the material then used a heat gun to get a tight fit. I'll probably try that in an...
If they're still in the vehicle you can do the same. Just turn on the headlights. Unfortunately since it's split with part going to the 24v section and part to 12v section I'm not sure it would draw off of all 4 batteries. Also if it's just a surface charge it likely won't have the same...
For a single car battery just turning the headlights on without the vehicle running would do it. No real length of time, just turning them on, pause, turn them off.
Try putting a small load on them and then retest. If it's just a surface charge it'll drop below 12v pretty quick and indicate a dead cell. If they hold steady then should be ok for now.
Glad to see you guys are both making progress. I'm delivering mine to it's new owner on Saturday. Another retired Army NCO who drove them in Germany and is under the assumption that'd it'd be fun to work on one :)
Recovery for the truck is set for next Monday. God willing and the creeks don't rise any more in Houston that is. I'm going a bit stir crazy wanting to get my hands dirty on it and have spent the last couple of days going through ALL the FMTV posts. I ordered a couple of rolls of sound...
Guys I've talked to with M1079s said they were top heavy too. Not so bad driving on hard top but off road or any even small side hill and they have a HUGE pucker factor. My idea is to get a 1082 trailer and build a camper in it. That way if I want to take it somewhere to do trail rides I can...
I believe a 12' vs 14' bed and obviously the weight capacity. Might still fit but I'd be concerned about the center of gravity. Looks top heavy with 3 axles so would likely be increased with only 2 axles.
I printed off just the -10 and it took 2 huge folders and a couple of reams of paper. Obviously there's some stuff in there that you don't have to read and there are a number of intentionally blank pages but the basics are there to help you out. Using the -24p can help identify parts that are...
