    Insurance for my SEE

You might want to check the stickies at the top of each forum about starting insurance threads. I'm pretty sure the mods are going to be in here quick to lock this one.

    Hub Removal/Replace

My recommendation would be to leave it that way if you buy the truck. If you want to modify something then do it yourself versus taking a chance that someone else did it right and didn't just screw it up.

Relocate batteries and fuel tank inboard

His response was to the 2nd poster coachgeo who I believe just purchased a truck and hasn't picked it up yet.

2016 la rally swap, buy, sell, wanted tread

Sorry for my tow bar ignorance but not sure what the "upgraded" sleeves are. Here's a couple of pics though.

    Wiper blade replace

Good luck with the recovery and don't let LMTV772 get you down. He's got "lose LMTV's" which I'm trying to figure out whether they're "lost" "lots" or "loose" and what they're possessive of (the 's instead of just s).

Army PS Magazine Index of all FMTV Articles with Subject, Issue, and Page Numbers

I just finished downloading everything available. Like I mentioned before, earliest issue archived on line is Dec 1999. I guess for any of the others I'll have to look for hard copy versions. I would have like the issue with the introduction of the FMTVs. Note: if you are downloading these...

    Cranked engine and engine swaps

PS Magazine had an article about drive shaft maintenance that talked specifically about cracking the block due to too much play in the drive shaft. Not saying that's what caused this one but it is a known issue. I would think trying to get the 6BT fabbed into a LMTV would be a whole lot more...

    FMTV Air Hydraulic Unit Repair

Reviewing the PS Magazine put out by they Army they had one posting that said if you saw mist coming out then rebuild it. They came back about a year later and said the manufacturer said, no that's normal venting and as long as you weren't losing fluid the unit was fine. I'm not sure which...

My New Project - 1942 Ford GPW

Looks amazing! Good luck tomorrow. Since the rains coming in I'm guessing it'll be nice in cool in the shop for any work that needs done.

And that's the correct way to do it.

    Someone hit my truck!!

Typically even if they total it you'll have the option of keeping the salvage less the "salvage value." The negotiable part is making sure they don't contact the state and have your title branded as salvage. When it's just an economic total loss and not something structural (crumpled frame for...

New member, looking for my retirement project.

Welcome and good luck with your search! Something to consider with the 5 ton is the need for a Class A or B license and just the fact that it's a bigger vehicle so has all the obstacles of such when off road. Personally I'm thinking of building (or having built) a metal framed slide in camper...

    Someone hit my truck!!

Make sure you contact your ins comp before you do any tear down so they can send an adjuster to look at the damage. They have an easier out to deny a portion of the damage if they didn't inspect it first ("how do we know it was related, blah, blah, blah). At minimum take extensive photos...

New member wants to say "Hello"

Welcome from Spring Branch and another new M1078 owner. Looks like you've got yours already. I still have more than a week before I get to start playing with mine.

The Long Trip Home, AZ to WA

Glad you made a safe trip. I pick up my M1078 a week from Monday. Bouncing off the walls until then.

    2016 la rally

TexAndy and I will be driving through on Fri on the way to AL to drop off the Gama Goat. We'd love to drop in to at least say hello and let m715mike sit in the Goat and go VROOM VROOM before it's gone.

2016 la rally swap, buy, sell, wanted tread

Looks like TexAndy and I will be able to swing by on Fri on our way through to AL to drop the Goat off. Anyone need a NIB Cab reinforcement panel for M35A2 or 5 ton? $50 delivered to the rally (must pick up Fri or pre-pay and I'll drop it off on the way through), a couple of bags of fiberglass...
