You might want to check the stickies at the top of each forum about starting insurance threads. I'm pretty sure the mods are going to be in here quick to lock this one.
My recommendation would be to leave it that way if you buy the truck. If you want to modify something then do it yourself versus taking a chance that someone else did it right and didn't just screw it up.
Good luck with the recovery and don't let LMTV772 get you down. He's got "lose LMTV's" which I'm trying to figure out whether they're "lost" "lots" or "loose" and what they're possessive of (the 's instead of just s).
I just finished downloading everything available. Like I mentioned before, earliest issue archived on line is Dec 1999. I guess for any of the others I'll have to look for hard copy versions. I would have like the issue with the introduction of the FMTVs.
Note: if you are downloading these...
PS Magazine had an article about drive shaft maintenance that talked specifically about cracking the block due to too much play in the drive shaft. Not saying that's what caused this one but it is a known issue. I would think trying to get the 6BT fabbed into a LMTV would be a whole lot more...

Typically even if they total it you'll have the option of keeping the salvage less the "salvage value." The negotiable part is making sure they don't contact the state and have your title branded as salvage. When it's just an economic total loss and not something structural (crumpled frame for...
Welcome and good luck with your search!
Something to consider with the 5 ton is the need for a Class A or B license and just the fact that it's a bigger vehicle so has all the obstacles of such when off road. Personally I'm thinking of building (or having built) a metal framed slide in camper...
Make sure you contact your ins comp before you do any tear down so they can send an adjuster to look at the damage. They have an easier out to deny a portion of the damage if they didn't inspect it first ("how do we know it was related, blah, blah, blah). At minimum take extensive photos...
Welcome from Spring Branch and another new M1078 owner. Looks like you've got yours already. I still have more than a week before I get to start playing with mine.
TexAndy and I will be driving through on Fri on the way to AL to drop off the Gama Goat. We'd love to drop in to at least say hello and let m715mike sit in the Goat and go VROOM VROOM before it's gone.
Looks like TexAndy and I will be able to swing by on Fri on our way through to AL to drop the Goat off. Anyone need a NIB Cab reinforcement panel for M35A2 or 5 ton? $50 delivered to the rally (must pick up Fri or pre-pay and I'll drop it off on the way through), a couple of bags of fiberglass...
