I can't agree with the bad service life comment . I've had the same red top in my work van for 11 years. Red top in the wife's truck for 4 years. I hear a lot of guy's say they don't last long but it just hasn't bin my experience. Perhaps there using the wrong battery for there application?
Like Kentucky I also put 2 optima's in the back tray and removed the front tray. Although I chose yellow tops I had to make the top hold down and lengthen the base. But it did clean up the engine bay.
Well I'm not really all that familiar with these diesel engines, but I imagine that your leak would be round the timing cover. Or perhaps the head gasket. Remember your cooling system is only 16psi and your oil pressure is around 70psi so the oil will overpower the water. Again I'm not real...
Well after reading the posts here and all over the net, I think I have an idea. Rather then an expensive remote filter set up . Just upgrade to a high volume oil pump and simply use the large Napa filter the original OP was talking about. Then you get the best of both worlds adequate oil...
Well I've bin reading up on this subject all over the net and have gotten no definite answer . But this link seems to support my theory ah bit. If you notice from the Amsoil schematics there using a spring loaded restrictor in there system. I'm assuming to help maintain oil pressure.
I think your missing something. After the oil is picked up from the pan ,it travels through the pump, THEN the oil filter , BEFORE the engine. Soo if you add ah larger filter between the pump and the engine. Your asking the oil pump to pressurize much more volume. Thus there has to be a...
The only thing I'd be worried about would be a possible drop in oil pressure do to the added volume the pump has the move before the oil gets to the engine. Do you have an oil pressure gauge in this truck? I've bin doing something similar to my old dodge work van. I ran ah ford M08A in place of...
Installed ah 12V outlet in the ash tray to charge cell phones and ah run radar detector. Painted the inside of the ash tray with bed liner to lessen the rattle of lose change. Took off the door panels and lubed the lock mech's ,rods and window regulators. Shot graphite lube into all key holes.
Ha! well for starters I don't have ah shoe box bolted to the back of my truck to store my garage in:cookoo::-D. Seriously though space is ah commodity in the cab of these trucks. Unless you can have ah "normal" tool box or camper shell, of which I can't use because they'd be in the way.
The only thing I can think of is some sort of vibration would cause that. Maybe some slop between the pump arm and the shaft? Or slop in the shaft bore? And ,or ah bent shaft, I've seen that happen during improper installation of the pump. Don't ask how I know that.:???:
