For anyone concerned about moisture on a vented tank or a tank that isn't completely full, give a search for "desiccant fuel breathers". That will give you some idea to purchase or build your own.
Edit:
I'm going to be building a few for my storage system from some compressed air filter...
If you find the alternator isn't making power don't replace it without doing some troubleshooting yourself. The alternators are a little expensive to buy but easy and cheap to repair.
The G7200 will be plenty. It will just take a longer to top them back up when necessary. Once they are topped up and floating you aren't putting any real amps into them anyway so its a waste.
That's a really good question. When you are looking at a surge rating there are a couple of numbers to consider together. One is the Surge Current Per Phase. On that one the Square-D looks good at 80kA where the Eaton is a little lower at 50kA (the Ultra is rated at 50kA where the MAX is 45kA)...

The best you can do is to make it harder for it to get inside if you take a strike nearby. I have an arrester on my panel outside and I know it has saved my bacon more...
Since you already have a ground/neutral bonding point in your home system you would remove the bonding bus bar in the generator. You are now required to do a 4 wire hookup from the generator connecting both hots, the neutral, and the ground to the corresponding conductors on the house.
Its OK...
That set up it's only weather resistant when closed. If you want to you have one that is weather resistant when in use you'll need to look for different parts.
I have a speed controller prototyped and working on the bench. Soon I'll be able to get the 831 that has been languishing without a good controller going. I've not wanted to sell it unless it was perfect. It will soon be better than stock. This new controller is going to work great. It has some...
I would recommend taking the top off the engine compartment and cleaning everything well with some degreaser. Once everything is clean and dry start up the fuel pump and let it run while you look around for leaks. With luck it will show itself pretty quickly.
