Ok that's pretty funny. Keith_J is infamous for finding abandoned tools and bringing them back to life. I can certainly see him dragging a 100lb vise home and figuring out how to unstick it.
I remember a Boy Scout parade a few years ago where everyone was happy I had a heater in the back of the M1010. I probably cycled a 100+ through it to get the feeling back in their limbs. But for the most part you're probably right, still I like to have all the do-dads that go along with...
I'll load it up today then. Text me a good time to swing by tomorrow. If the AutoRama is going on is there going to be anyone at Lowe's on Saturday?
Edit:
Well 1st time loading the Goat solo. All limbs and digits accounted for which is a good thing.
Weather is starting to get decent again so I fiddled a little with the Goat today. I had a couple of brake lines made up and reinstalled them at the quick disconnect and onto the carrier. One of the things I really need to do is power wash the bottom if I'm going to do much down there. That...
I signed up last week. Do they supply the tables or do I need to bring my own? Looks like the spaces inside the Convention Center have tables but couldn't tell in the Arena.
I found mine in Idaho but she was actually living in WA at the time so there's a good chance you can pick one up in the area. Just be warned, I found out mine can shoot better than me so kind of hurts the ego a bit.
Looks good! We've now got 3 threads going on Goat restoration! For something as rare as these are that's pretty amazing. I guess now that the demil code has changed and the States are giving them up we'll see a few more trickling in.
I'll be removing my overhead cover this weekend but...
Thanks for the offer. I'll either be changing out the steering box or it'll be at the soda blasters. I'll let you know. I'm probably going to load it on the trailer and take it to the monthly SS car show at the RIM Saturday and then over to Tornadogt's to pull the top off.
Glad it turned out to be as complete as it is. Did I forget to mention the mirrors, arms, and rifle rack didn't go with that one? You can just put them in the mail at your convenience.
The mirror brackets that bolt to the side of the dash (then the slanted arm bolts to it and the mirror head). This picture has the bracket just behind the lifting ring.
Try pming popacom. He's got a couple of boxes full of things headed my way. The other option would be Art's Parts in Austin, MN. That's who I got the troop seat parts from.
The hard part about the mirrors is that I'm also missing the piece that bolts to the dash. I'm going to try to fab...
That's the thing, you can't be too choosey when your prospects for parts are limited. I was thrilled with the NOS tailgate and other parts I've gotten so far. I'm still waiting on some more used stuff but I'm pretty confident it'll be in fairly good shape. And what I can't find (mirror arms)...
Got the folding section of the troop seats in the mail today. One is fairly straight with crappy latches and the other one is pretty crappy with excellent latches. I should be able to get the crappy one straightened to useful condition but not sure I can salvage the rusted latches on the other...
