    M561 Steering Gear boxes

What type of grease did you use? GAA, bearing, hub, chicken (ok I threw that last one in just for fun)?

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

I was able to clean the quick release valve up a little yesterday. It had a fair amount of paint and rust on it. I got the paint off and flattened the rust a little but it was enough that it got moving back and forth easier. I also turned the corner on the paint removal, literally. I'm now...

Just drank the MKT kool-aide, my new MKT-75

Welcome to the MKT craziness. Don't post a link to the auction even though it's closed as 2 years from now someone looking at this thread won't be able to access it. You can right click on the photos from the auction and "save picture as" onto your computer and then upload those photos here...

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

I have a take out steering box coming next week and we'll be filling it with grease. At this point haven't decided what kind for sure. Cornhead grease is pretty pricey and I can't see why a high-temp bearing grease wouln't work just as well. All I know is the box that's in there leaks like a...

Street Legal Idaho + Cross International boarders

OP is in Afghanistan. I believe his home of record is Idaho. In his intitial post his "Location" had "where ever the Army Sends me" and someone mentioned the need for a physical location (although they said one of the 50 States). The site requests that people in the US put which State they are...

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

Well Sunday turned out to be the "may not" version of getting the new MC in. Then yesterday our morning low was 31 which also turned out to be the daytime high so I figured I'd wait for a little friendlier temps today. So it was 32 when I changed the MC out. Luckily there's a panel on top of...

    M37 Plowing Snow Pics.

The wife's M37 has the fender mounted hot water heater. We have it plumbed and the electrical hooked up but haven't found the tube between the unit and the cowl. I'm sure a dryer vent tube would work but we generally don't drive it when it's cold out so haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.

Looks like fun. No heater? I'm just glad mine will never see snow :)

"• Location: We require that all members include their state in their new member profile. This allows the other members to know their neighbors. Users who refuse to add their location will be subject to warning, temporary ban, and then permanent ban." I think what you have now is...

    Looking for the TM9-2320-242-20 Manual

I got mine off eBay. You need the tail light wiring schematic? Edit: Well I just tried highlighting the section on the Carrier wiring harness and the document is locked so I can't even copy the text out of it. I scanned the pages I thought were appropriate and saved them as a PDF file. PM...

    Looking for the TM9-2320-242-20 Manual

I finally just broke down and ordered the whole set on disc. The -20 is just too large a file to upload or email. Unfortunately the copy I purchased doesn't allow copying or saving either so no way to put it on a disc or flash drive to share.

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

The new MC arrived today. I may or may not (there is no try) get it in tomorrow. All depends on how long church goes. I was afraid this was the incorrect MC when I opened it. I thought the brake line openings were on the wrong side but compared it with the old one and everything lined up...

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

Maybe 8-10 total. I have MS so when I spend a day working on something it's work 1/2 hour rest 1/2 hour, work 20 minutes rest 40 min, etc, then knock off for the day at lunch time. It's fortunate that with the chemical stripper you have to let it sit for 15 minutes to start working well so I...

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

Worse case scenario is that we just disconnect the rears altogether. There is never going to be a load in the carrier so if all 4 front brakes work I'd think that would be sufficient to stop an unloaded vehicle. I prefer they all work but not concerned if they don't. We've got "friends"...

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

Not much done on the 561 this week due to weather and waiting for the new MC to arrive. I did spend a couple of hours yesterday crawling over a friend's Goat to see where everything was supposed to be or not to be (that was the question). I found out that 8 holes I thought were added by the...

    flat battery? new to this

And just because the gauge says "half tank" doesn't mean there's that much in it. Military fuel gauges are like lawyers and politicians. They lie.
