Just because they are in the pictures does not mean they are GL trucks. GL sites are on DRMS lots so often the trucks are still in the hands of DMRS and may get sold prior to ever hitting GL.
Somebody has loaded some trucks out since the last time I was out there. The count was at 98 two weeks ago.
Most of those trucks are sold, no more coming out of Frankfort, no point in watching that site anymore
What it comes down to is pay less and wait longer or pay more and pick it up when you buy it. If you are strapped for cash and in no hurry than buy from GL, if you want one tomorrow buy it private sale. One benefit to private sale is that you will be able to start and drive the truck around...
The only real important difference between older and new is the T-case. The older trucks (up to late 60s) were all wheel drive with high and low range. The newer trucks are air shift 6x6 so you can engage and disengage 6 wheel drive. Down side to the air shift is that if you loose your air...
I have seen some of the trucks that some people on here drag home. I think for many of us the most important thing is that it kinda sorta is recognizable as an M35A:-P
Keeping it running is the easy part, you just continue to buy donor trucks.
A good way to think about lockers on a deuce rather than comparing to a much stronger, heavier truck is to compare to an actual trail rig.
Take your run of the mill Jeep as an example: Lets not even consider that usually if somebody is building a trail rig out of a jeep that they will usually...
No, the hold is just a glitch. The reason there are none listed in your area right now is because the next Q/B sale does not start until the first week of DEC so many trucks are not listed yet. keep watching, some will pop up.
According to this it is a replacement: Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) Support Vehicle - Army Technology
Wikipedia also says it is a replacement.
Also interesting to note that they are doing a diesel/electric hybrid version.
And under equipment it says it has "two run flat tires". What...
If it is then it locks front tandem and rear tandem together, not side to side. With a Mack at low speeds the front tandem will spin on one side and the rear will spin on the opposite side; so you have power to both sides of the truck, but only one axle each.
I think the main reason they are being phased out just after 20 years of service is that they cannot handle the combat situations that we face today. They where not designed to handle ambush style attacks and up-armoring them puts too much strain on the vehicle and increase the incidence of...
While the ratio on the deuce is a little better the torque and HP of the mixer is 3-4 times better than the deuce. But it also weighs 4 times more than the deuce so I would say they are pretty well matched and the deuce is going to be about as good as the mixer with lockers:wink:
can't read?
It is powered by a Cat C-13 ACERT, at 1200 rpm it puts out 345 hp and 1350 ftlb torque. ratios are 1.00:1 at the transfer case in high range and 2.38:1 in low, difs are 5.38:1 in all three.
While the ratio on the deuce is a little better the torque and HP of the mixer is 3-4 times better than...
